ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 9th day of October, 1940.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to the Harbours Act, 1923, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby license and permit the Akaroa Boating Club, of Akaroa (hereinafter called “the licensees,” which term shall include their successors or assigns, unless the context requires a different construction), to use and occupy a part of the foreshore and land below low-water mark at Akaroa, Akaroa Harbour, as shown on plan marked M.D. 4128, approved on the thirtieth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, for the purpose of maintaining thereon a boat-shed and slip, as shown on the said plan, such license to be held and enjoyed by the licensees upon and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
(1) This license is subject to the Foreshore License Regulations 1940, and the provisions of those regulations shall, so far as applicable, apply hereto.
(2) The term of the license shall be fourteen years from the 1st day of October, 1940.
(3) The annual sum payable by the licensees shall be 1s., payable on demand.

Licensing the Kauri Timber Company, Limited, to use and occupy a Part of the Foreshore at Whangaparapara, Great Barrier Island, as a Site for Dolphins.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to the Harbours Act, 1923, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby license and permit the Kauri Timber Company, Limited, of Auckland (hereinafter called “the company,” which term shall include its successors or assigns, unless the context requires a different construction), to use and occupy a part of the foreshore at Whangaparapara, Great Barrier Island, as shown on plan marked M.D. 6192, approved on the twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, for the purpose of maintaining thereon six dolphins as shown on the said plan, such license to be held and enjoyed by the company upon and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
(1) This license is subject to the Foreshore License Regulations 1940, and the provisions of those regulations shall, so far as applicable, apply hereto.
(2) The term of the license shall be fourteen years from the 27th day of September, 1940.
(3) The premium payable by the company shall be one pound (£1), and the annual sum so payable, five pounds (£5).
(4) The company shall maintain the dolphins in such a manner so as to provide that there shall be no unnecessary delay in allowing the passage of vessels and boats.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 16th day of October, 1940.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other power in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and with the consent of the licensee doth hereby revoke that part of the Order in Council dated the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 23 of the eighth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, which authorizes the Westport Coal Company, Limited, to use one cubic foot of water per second from Gravity Creek for the purpose of generating electricity.

Suspending the Operations of certain Statutes in connection with the Christchurch Metropolitan Show.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 9th day of October, 1940.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Exhibitions Act, 1910 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the holding of a public exhibition of works of industry and art, to be conducted by the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association in the Addington Show Buildings, Christchurch, on the fourteenth and fifteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty, and to be known as the Christchurch Metropolitan Show, and doth hereby declare the said exhibition to be an exhibition within the meaning of the said Act, and doth hereby suspend, subject, however, to the conditions set out in the Schedule hereto, all the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the Factories Act, 1921–22, and the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and of all awards and industrial agreements in force under the last-named Act, in so far as such provisions relate to the hours of commencing or ceasing work or to the issue of permits for overtime or extended hours, or to holidays or half-holidays, or to the closing of shops to any person, and so far as such provisions relate to hours of work done or business conducted or service carried out in or upon the premises aforesaid during the period aforesaid by or on behalf of the bodies conducting the said exhibition, or by or on behalf of any exhibitor of works of industry or art at the said exhibition, or by any person employed in or about the said exhibition.

SCHEDULE.

Eight hours shall constitute a day’s work in or about the exhibition and, with the exception set out in clause 2 hereof, such hours shall be worked consecutively.

No person shall be employed in or about the exhibition for more than four hours without an interval of at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal.
