Controlling Local Authorities appointed under Section 63 of
the Licensing Act, 1908.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred upon me by section 63 of the Licensing Act,
1908, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
the local authorities named in the Schedule hereunder to be
controlling local authorities under the said Act, to have
authority for the purposes of the said Act throughout the
licensing districts respectively named in the said Schedule,
opposite the name of each such local authority respectively,
and to make all necessary appointments and to do all things
required for the conduct of elections of Licensing Committees,
and for the general administration of the said Act within such
licensing districts respectively.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extra-
ordinary Vacancies on the Dannevirke, Napier, Wairoa,
and Woodville Fire Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the
rules thereunder, the Minister charged for the time being
with the administration of the said Act, doth hereby appoint
Friday, the 17th day of February, 1939, to be the date for
holding the election of one member of each of the Dannevirke,
Napier, Wairoa, and Woodville Fire Boards by the fire-
insurance companies concerned, such election being held to
fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation
of Mr. J. W. T. Norrie from the said Boards.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block III, Wharekawa
Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute
a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—
and for the purposes of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is
hereby further given that the plan of the land so required
to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Mangatangi
and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected
by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of
the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections
to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to
the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
1 acre 1 rood 27 perches.
Being portion of Lot 8, D.P. 16322, being portion of Opita
Block.
Situated in Block III, Wharekawa Survey District
(Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 29651.)
In the North Auckland Land District; as the same
is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
P.W.D. 100883, deposited in the office of the Minister of
Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XV, Patetere North
Survey District, for the Purposes of a Quarry.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the
land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a
quarry. And notice is hereby further given that the plan
of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-
office at Te Aroha and is there open for inspection ; and that
all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if
they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
1 acre.
Being portion of Section 35, Block XV, Patetere North
Survey District, Selwyn Settlement.
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 101924,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
