Otago Presbyterian Church Board of Property Amendment Act, 1930, and to be entitled "The Otago Presbyterian Church Board of Property Amendment Act, 1939." The objects of such Bill are :—
(1) To extend the definition of a Deacons' Court to include a Board of Managers ;
(2) To provide power for the Synod to delegate either absolutely or upon conditions to any presbytery or to a special commission appointed in accordance with the usages of the Synod or to a special committee of the Synod its powers and authority under sections 27, 28, and 29 of the former Act under the circumstances therein stated to give the necessary concurrences, directions, or consents;
(3) To extend the operation of section 22 of the former Act to enable payments from the Ecclesiastical Fund to be applied in building and repairing church halls and other buildings used for religious purposes in Otago, and for endowing or aiding in the endowment of any lectureship or lectureships in connection with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand in any college or university which has been, or may be, erected in Otago, and paying any salaries and other moneys to the holder or occupier of such lectureships, or for any other purposes consistent with the purposes in the said section as amended by the proposed Bill;
(4) To extend the operations of the latter Act for a term of twenty-five years from the 31st July, 1940.
Notice is also hereby given that copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Examiner's Office within fourteen days after the commencement of the said session.

EKETAHUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Eketahuna Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one thousand one hundred pounds (£1,100) authorized to be raised by the Eketahuna Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of erecting a dwelling in the Borough of Eketahuna for the accommodation of the Town Clerk, the said Eketahuna Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of twenty-seven sixty-fourths of a penny (27/64d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the whole of the Borough of Eketahuna, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five (25) years or until the loan is fully paid off."

BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Birkenhead Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

"That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £4,000 authorized to be raised by the Birkenhead Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of financing ratepayers to enable connections to be made with the Borough sewerage system, the said Birkenhead Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1·199d. in the pound upon the rateable (unimproved) value of all rateable property included in the special roll of ratepayers for the sewerage special-rating area, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of seven years or until the loan is fully paid off."

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at an ordinary meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council held on Wednesday, the 31st day of May, 1939.

CHANGE OF NAME OF COMPANY.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Act, 1924, the Public Works Act, 1928, and the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and their amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wellington City Council proposes under the provisions of the above-named Acts and all other Acts, powers, and authorities enabling it in that behalf to execute a certain public work—namely, for street purposes at Creswick Terrace in the City of Wellington—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Office of the Town Clerk to the said Council in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said City, and is there open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work, or the taking of such land should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice to the Wellington City Council addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.

NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to section 232 of the Companies Act, 1933, that a general meeting of members of the above-named company will be held at No. 152 Hereford Street, Christchurch, on Wednesday, the 28th day of June, 1939, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of having an account laid before the meeting showing the manner in which the winding up has been conducted and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the liquidator.
