Engineers' Registration Act, 1924.--Examinations, October, 1939.
ENTRIES for the next examinations to be held in accordance with the regulations issued under section 16 of the above Act close on 30th June, 1939. Entrance forms received after that date cannot be considered. Entrance forms will be supplied on request to the Registrar, Engineers' Registration Board, Wellington. Applicants should state whether they require forms for civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering. Civil engineering candidates should note that for the October, 1939, examinations and thereafter two papers in engineering drawing will be set for section B.

THE Clerk of the Writs has received a return to the Writ issued on the 15th day of May, 1939, for the election of a Member of Parliament to serve in the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Christchurch South and by the endorsement on such Writ it appears that Robert Mafeking Macfarlane has been duly elected to serve as a member for the said district.

Election of Member of Gisborne Land Board.

I, HENRY LOFTUS PRIMROSE, Returning Officer for the election of a member of the Gisborne Land Board, in accordance with the provisions of section 47 of the Land Act, 1924, and the regulations made thereunder, do hereby declare that the only person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring on the said Board was George Oswald Donovan, of Motu.
And I do hereby declare that the said George Oswald Donovan is duly elected a member of the Gisborne Land Board for a term of two years as from the 31st day of May, 1939.

New Zealand Dairy Board Election, 1939.
DECLARATION OF RESULT OF ELECTION IN THE MIDDLE WARD.
I, LEONARD IRWIN, Returning Officer appointed under section 19 of the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act, 1934, do hereby declare that Andrew Linton, of Lower Valley, Featherston, farmer, is the only candidate nominated for the election of a Middle Ward member of the New Zealand Dairy Board, the nominations whereof closed at noon of the 7th day of June, 1939.
I therefore declare the said Andrew Linton to be duly elected.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, 13th June, 1939.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 11 o'clock a.m. on Monday, 17th July, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 19th July, 1939, at 10 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.--SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Bay of Islands County.--Hukerenui Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)
SECTIONS 6, 7, and 22, Block II: Area, 356 acres 3 roods 35 perches. Capital value, £270 ; half-yearly rent, £5 8s.
*Rental exemption is conditional on the phosphatic manure to be value of not less than £30 being applied to pastures annually during the concession period.
Weighted with £440 for improvements, comprising 100 acres felled and in danthonia pasture, 230 acres felled, burned, and grassed but reverted, five-roomed dwelling, 200 chains road fence, 124 chains boundary-fence, and 50 chains subdivision fence. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £40, the balance will be paid over a period of twenty-five years and a half by half-yearly instalments of £14.
This property is situated on the Ruapekapeka-Tapuhi Road, one mile from Tapuhi School and two miles from Tapuhi Post-office; access is from Hukerenui Railway-station, seven miles distant by metalled road. Approximately one-third of the country is easy country the balance being steep and broken by gullies. Some 25 acres bush, 100 acres fairly clean danthonia feed, balance manuka, very heavy fern, and black-berry carrying some rough feed; watered by permanent streams. Property is subdivided into seven paddocks and is suitable as a run-off for cattle by an adjacent owner.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 26th July, 1939, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants are required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.
