Altering Boundaries of Waitomo and Clifton Counties and including Area in Awakino Riding, Waitomo County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Waitomo County Council, in pursuance of subsection three of section fourteen of the Counties Act, 1920 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), presented a petition in accordance with the said subsection three, praying that the boundaries of the Waitomo and Clifton Counties be altered by including in the said Waitomo County the area of the Clifton County described in that petition :

And whereas a Commission was appointed to inquire and report thereon in accordance with subsection four of section fourteen of the said Act, and has duly reported that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered in the manner prayed for in the said petition :

And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered in such a manner as is deemed to be in accordance with the said report, and that the area to be added to the Waitomo County should be included in the Awakino Riding of that county :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Clifton County, shall be added to and form part of the Waitomo County ; that the boundaries of the Waitomo and Clifton Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto ; that the area added as aforesaid to the Waitomo County shall be included in the Awakino Riding of that county ; and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto :

And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-nine.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF CLIFTON AND INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY OF WAITOMO.

ALL that area, being part of the Mokau-Mohakatino 1f Block, containing 4,520 acres 0 roods 6 perches, more or less, bounded as follows : Commencing at the junction of the southern boundary of part Lot 5, D.P. 3836, Block III, Mokau Survey District, and the Mokau River, and running thence in a north-westerly and then generally easterly direction along the Mokau River to the eastern boundary of part Section 3, Block III, Mokau Survey District ; thence in a southerly direction along the eastern boundaries of the said part Section 3, part Lot 13, D.P. 3049, and Lot 38, D.P. 3049, Blocks III and VII, Mokau Survey District, to the south-east corner of the said part Lot 13 ; thence in a westerly direction along the southern boundaries of part Lot 13 aforesaid, Lot 7, D.P. 3836, and Lot 6, D.P. 3836, to the south-west corner of the said Lot 6 ; thence in a north-easterly and then westerly direction along the western boundary of Blocks VII and III, Mokau Survey District, to the Mokau River, at the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

WAITOMO COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Auckland and Taranaki Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at a point whence the northern boundary of Section I, Block VI, Marakopa Survey District, intersects the coast-line ; thence south-easterly along the northern boundary of the said Section 1 to the Kiritehere Road ; thence across that road and southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 2b (Scenic Reserve) to its south-eastern corner ; thence along the northern and eastern boundaries of Section 2, Block II, Whareorino Survey District, to the Ngawaitangirua Road ; thence across that road and along the north-east boundary of Section 3, Block II, Whareorino Survey District ; thence along the north-western boundary of Section 4, and the western and northern boundaries of Section 3, Block I, Maungamangero Survey District, to the Mangakokopu Road ; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections 7 and 2, Block I, and Sections 5, 2, and 1, Block II, Maungamangero Survey District, to the Mahoenui-Kawhia Road ; thence across that road to the middle of the Mangaohae Stream ; thence along the middle of the Mangaohae and Mangarere Streams to the western boundary of Section 3, Block IV, Maungamangero Survey District ; thence along the western boundaries of Section 3 aforesaid, and Kinohaku East No. 2
