Resignation of Member of the New Zealand Wool Publicity Committee.— (Notice No. Ag. 3655.)

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased, in pursuance of section 3 (6) of the Wool Industry Promotion Act, 1936, to accept the resignation by

Bernard Edward Howard Tripp, Esquire,

of his office as a representative of the Woolgrowers of the Dominion on the New Zealand Wool Publicity Committee established by the said Act.

Death of Member of House of Representatives for Electoral District of Christchurch South.

Office of Minister in Charge of Electoral Department,
Wellington, 8th May, 1939.

WHEREAS the House of Representatives is not now in session, and there is no Speaker of the said House: Now, therefore, pursuant to the provisions of the Electoral Act, 1927, His Excellency the Governor-General directs it to be notified that Edwin John Howard, Esquire, Member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Christchurch South, died on the 26th day of April, 1939; and that the seat in the House of Representatives for the said electoral district is vacant by reason of such death.

Portion of Te Arawa Consolidation Scheme confirmed.

In the matter of subsection (6) of section 161 of the Native Land Act, 1931, and in the matter of an application dated the 29th day of January, 1925, to the Court to prepare a scheme of consolidation in respect of Tihiotonga A and other blocks.

NOTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation (in part, being the third instalment) dated the 21st day of June, 1938, dealing with Rimu Horohoro and other blocks within the Waiariki Native Land Court District, having been prepared by the Native Land Court in accordance with the above-mentioned Act and submitted under the seal of the said Court to the Native Minister for his approval, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, acting for the Native Minister, being satisfied that the portion of the scheme so submitted is just and equitable and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the portion of the said scheme of consolidation which was so submitted on the 21st day of June, 1938.

Social Security Act, 1938.—Maternity Benefits.

PURSUANT to section 79 of the Social Security Act, 1938, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Health for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby determine that maternity benefits in accordance with the said Act will be available throughout New Zealand on and after the 15th day of May, 1939.
