Position: Lat., 45° 52′6 S.; long., 170° 31′·2 E. (approx.).
Alteration: On the 27th instant red beacon No. 37 with flashing red light will be shifted to a position 031½° 425 ft., from the flashing white light on the last black pile.

Fire District Notices varied.
PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22, and section 6 of the Forests Amendment Act, 1925, I hereby declare the closed season in all Fire Districts to be extended to the 31st day of May, 1939.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 11 o’clock a.m. on Monday, 15th May, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 17th May, 1939, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Bay of Islands County.—Omapere Survey District.
NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)
SECTION 24, Block IV: Area, 150 acres 1 rood 27 perches. Capital value, £110; half-yearly rent, £2 4s.
Sections 25 and 26, Block IV: Area, 159 acres 3 roods 2 perches. Capital value, £120; half-yearly rent, £2 8s.
- The rental exemption is conditional on improvements to the value of £15 being effected each year of the concession period in addition to the usual requirements under the Land Act.
Sections 25 and 26 are weighted with £80 for improvements, comprising 8 chains boundary fence, 56 chains road fence, and 26 chains subdivisional fence, and three old shacks. This sum is payable in cash, or after payment of a deposit of £20, the balance of £60 may be paid over a period of three years by half-yearly instalments of £10, plus interest at 5 per cent.
These sections are situated on the Okaihau–Kerekeri Road, eight miles from Okaihau School and Railway-station by formed and metalled road, and eight miles from Kerikeri Wharf.
Section 24 comprises easy rising to undulating land being all ploughable. It is totally unimproved and has a growth of short manuka, fern, and hakea, with some gorse in evidence. Soil is light brown with some ironstone and is of an indifferent nature. Section is poorly watered but permanent water could be obtained by boring.
Sections 25 and 26 comprise undulating to easy hilly country of which approximately three-quarters is ploughable. Soil is poor quality light brown with some ironstone. About 6 acres was ploughed and sown but has now reverted to fern and manuka. Fairly well watered by permanent streams.

Education Reserve in North Auckland Land District for Lease by Public Auction.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserve will be offered for lease by public auction at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, at 2.30 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 25th May, 1939, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1928, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—EDUCATION RESERVE.
Onerahi Town Board.—Suburbs of Grahamtown.
SECTION 8: Area, 9 acres 0 roods 14 perches. Upset annual rent, £6 10s.
Improvements to the value of £70 are included in the rental value, and these comprise 40 chains fencing, 5 chains drains, 7½ acres felled and grassed.
Situated on Whangarei–Onerahi Road about one mile and a half from Onerahi Post-office and one mile from Onerahi School. Access is from Whangarei which is four miles distant by good metalled road. Section comprises practically flat to very easy undulating land with the exception of approximately 1½ acres gully. Soil is partly semi-volcanic and partly grey pipe-clay resting on rock and clay formation; well watered by permanent stream. Town supply also available.
Form of lease may be perused and full particulars obtained at the office of the undersigned.
