One half-year's rent, broken-period rent, license fee(£l ls.), weighting for improvements, and statutory declaration shall be deposited by the successful applicant immediatelyan application is declared successful. Rent commencesfrom date of license; broken-period rent will be payablefrom date of selection, to lst March, 1940.5. Rent is payable half-yearly in advance on lst Marchand 1st September in each year. If not paid within thirtydays of due date a penalty of 10 per cent. is added.6. Improvements.—The licensee is required to effectand maintain improvements of a permanent character asfollows :—(a) Within one year from the date of his license, to a valueequal to one year's rent payable under the license:(b) Within two years from the date of his license, to avalue equal to two year's rent payable under thelicense:(c) Within six years from the date of his license, to a valueequal to four years' rent payable under the license.7. Licensee shall prevent the destruction or burning oftimmer and the growth and spread of gorse, broom, sweet-briar, or other noxious weeds or plants, and shall keepdown rabbits.8. No tussock or snow-grass shall be burned save with theprior consent in writing of the Board, which may be givensubject to such conditions, restrictions, and directions as theBoard thinks fit.9. Licensee shall have no right to any minerals ; whereany mineral is discovered the Governor-General may cancelthe license over such land as is required for the properworking of the mine or for access thereto.10. Licensee shall have no right to the timber or flax onthe land comprised in the license, and full rights of ingress,egress, and regress are reserved to the Crown for the purposeof cutting and removing such timber and flax.11. With the permission of the Land Board the licenseemay—(a) Cultivate a portion of the run and grow winter feedthereon:(b) Plough and sow in grass any area not exceeding3,000 acres:(c) Clear of bush or scrub any portion of the run and sowsame in grass:(d) Surface-sow in grass any portion of the run.12. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold inaccordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22,the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.3. The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as tothe said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate forthe purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchaseshall be voidable, nor shall the purchaser be entitled to anyabatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of lessquantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.4. A return giving the number of logs cut of each speciesand their contents must be made quarterly by the licenseeon the last days of March, June, September, and December,respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on thesame dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species.These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspectionof the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts andbooks shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, aForest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.5. The attention of buyers is drawn to the fact that thelocal controlling body may require the successful bidder to pay any claims or charges which may be made by thatbody for the maintenance of the road over which the timbarmay be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued aletter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have beenmade in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.6. Intending buyers are expected to visit the localityand to satisfy themselves in every particular on all mattersrelative to the sale.7. The timber described is submitted for sale subject to thefinal acceptance of the highest bid by the Commissioner ofState Forests.8. The right is reserved to the Commissioner of StateForests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timberbefore the date of sale.9. If no tender is accepted for the timber herein mentionedit will remain open for application for three months from thedate tenders close.10. Tenders should be on the special form obtainable fromany office of the State Forest Service, and should be enclosedin envelopes addressed “Conservator of Forests, PalmerstonNorth,” and endorsed “Tender for Timber.”The conditions, which will be inserted in the license to beissued to the purchaser, and further particulars may beobtained on application to the undersigned or to the Directorof Forestry, Wellington.S.
