IN LIQUIDATION.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of J. B. HISLOP, LIMITED (in Liquidation).

NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of sections 232 and 275 of the Companies Act, 1933, that a general meeting of members of the above-named company will be held at 30 Power Board Buildings, Queen Street, Auckland, on Monday, 6th February, 1939, at 1.30 p.m. for the purpose of having laid before them an account showing the manner in which the winding up has been conducted, and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanations that may be given by the liquidator, and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the liquidator thereof shall be disposed of.

BOROUGH OF CROMWELL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Cromwell Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500 authorized to be raised by the Cromwell Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of making advances to ratepayers to connect their premises to the sewerage system, the said Cromwell Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of sixpence in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Cromwell Borough Council comprising the whole of the Borough of Cromwell, such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 10th day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of eight years or until the loan is fully paid off."

We hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Cromwell Borough Council held on the 12th day of January, 1939.

BOROUGH OF CROMWELL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Cromwell Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

"That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £8,000 authorized to be raised by the Cromwell Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of a sewerage system for the borough, the said Cromwell Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one shilling and threepence in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Cromwell Borough Council comprising the whole of the Borough of Cromwell, such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 10th day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 10 years or until the loan is fully paid off."

We hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Cromwell Borough Council held on the 12th day of January, 1939.

MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and the Public Works Act, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Masterton County Council purposes, under the provisions of the abovementioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the construction of a public road—and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the County Clerk to the said Council, situate at Chapel Street, Masterton, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours. All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands, who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the Masterton County Council, at the aforesaid office.

UPPER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

Water-supply Loan, 1938, £1,200.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Upper Hutt Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

"That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £1,200 authorized to be raised by the Upper Hutt Borough Council for the purpose of sinking a well and to provide pumping and other equipment and such other works as are required by the Health Department upon the Council's leased site at Trentham, the said Upper Hutt Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one hundred and thirty-five thousandths of a penny in the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Upper Hutt; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of the loan until the loan is fully paid off."

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 26th May, 1938.
