Deputy Judge-Advocate-General.
Norman Arthur Foden, M.A., LL.D., is appointed Deputy Judge-Advocate-General, and is granted an honorary commission in the rank of Squadron Leader. Dated 1st November, 1939.
Director of Educational Services.
Edward Caradus, B.Sc., Senior Inspector of Secondary Schools, relinquishes the appointment of Honorary Educational Advisor to the Air Department, is appointed Director of Educational Services, and is posted to Air Headquarters for duty. Dated 7th November, 1939.

Appointment in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand).

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointment in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) :—
Lieutenant-Commander Andrew Douglas Holden appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” for H.M.S. “Wakakura,” additional, to date 11th November, 1939, and to H.M.S. “Wakakura” in command and as Officer Instructor to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, vice Lewis (date to be reported).

PURSUANT to section thirteen (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the constituent district of part Clutha County and the Town District of Clinton, was taken on the 2nd day of November, 1939, to borrow the sum of £12,000 for the purpose of reticulating portion of this area. The following votes were recorded :—

The number of votes for the proposal was 74.
The number of votes against the proposal was 9.
Informal Nil.
I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931.
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve until further notice, of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land for the Purposes of a Native School in Block XI, Whangape Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a Native school; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Whangape and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
