Amendments to the Regulations under the Government Railways Act, 1926.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 22nd day of November, 1939.
Present:
THE HON. W. NASH PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and
its amendments, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend as from and including the first day of July,
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-nine, the regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1926,
on the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, and published in the Gazette of
the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, as from time to time amended, in the
manner following, that is to say:-
By omitting the classification of engine-drivers, night foremen of cleaners, and firemen from that
portion of the First Schedule to the said regulations relating to the Second Division, Class 2, and substituting
in lieu thereof the following:

(Provided that no engine-driver shall be paid at the rate of 3s. 2½d. per hour unless his period of service
since the date of his last permanent appointment in the locomotive running branch is not less than twenty-
five years.)

(Provided that no member employed as an engine-driver or as a night foreman of cleaners shall, while
so employed, receive any rate of pay in excess of the rate prescribed for the fourth year, unless and until
he has passed, to the satisfaction of the General Manager, the departmental examination for first-class
engine-driver.)
