Declaring an approved Patriotic Purpose under the Patriotic Purposes Emergency Regulations 1939.

PURSUANT to regulation 28 of the Patriotic Purposes Emergency Regulations 1939, I, William Edward Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, do hereby declare as follows:—
(1) The following shall be an approved patriotic purpose under the said regulations, namely:—
The supply during the war as defined by the said regulations of comforts, conveniences, and special equipment to members of any Naval, Military, and Air Forces of Great Britain, or any other British Dominion or Mandated Territory.
(2) This declaration shall apply to the National Patriotic Fund and to all Provincial Patriotic Funds established by the said regulations.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.
I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area, constituted under the said Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from the 1st April, 1939, to the 31st March, 1940.
The said rates, together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on the 15th November, 1939, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, 1st Floor, Government Buildings, Custom Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
TOWN SUBDIVISION.
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District, one penny and forty-one one-hundredths of a penny (1·41d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
RURAL SUBDIVISION.
Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, twelvepence and fifty-two one-hundredths of a penny (12·52d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, fourpence and thirty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (4·38d.) in the pound.
Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, one penny and eighty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (1·88d.) in the pound.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—MANAWATU RIVER.
Alteration in Night Signals.
Position: Lat., 40° 27′ S.; long., 175° 14′ E. (approx.).
Alteration: On and after the 15th inst. the lights on the main leading beacons will be exhibited from sunset to sunrise, and a fixed green light exhibited 6 ft. below the white harbour light when it is safe to enter.
Vessels must not attempt to enter before the green light is shown.
