Plant declared to be a Noxious Weed in the Awatere County.—

THE following special order made by the Awatere County Council on the 5th day of October, 1939, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, and all other powers enabling it, the Awatere County Council, by way of special order, hereby resolves and declares that the plant Variegated Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a noxious weed within the County of Awatere.


Members of the Orepuki Rabbit Board elected.—(Notice No. Ag. 3700.)

NOTICE has been received under the hand of the Returning Officer for the purpose of the first election of members of the Orepuki Rabbit Board established under the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, that

have been duly elected as members of the said Board.

Alteration of Boundaries of Pelorus Fire District.

WHEREAS by a notice published in the Gazette on the 22nd day of November, 1923, at page 2876 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), a certain area in the Marlborough Land District was declared to be a fire district under section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and is now known as the Pelorus Fire District :

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Pelorus Fire District :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and of the Land Board of the Marlborough Land District, I hereby revoke the said notice, in so far as it relates to the Pelorus Fire District, and do declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district to be known as the Pelorus Fire District, and I do further specify the periods from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any timber, whether standing or not, or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations, or any grass, or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

Pelorus Fire District.

ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District, Marlborough County, containing approximately 54,000 acres, situated in Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VII, VIII, X, and XI, Heringa Survey District, and Blocks I, IX, X, XIII, and XIV, Wakamarina Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the east by the Ronga River and the Rai River; towards the south-west by the Nelson–Blenheim Road; towards the south by Sections 1 and 6, Block II, Heringa Survey District; towards the east by Sections 6, 5, and 4, Block II aforesaid, Section 48, a public road, Section 44, a public road, and Sections 6 and 4, all in Block V, Heringa Survey District; towards the north by Sections 4 and 8, Block V aforesaid, the crossings of a road and the Rai River, and by a public road; towards the east by Sections 27, 13, 20, and 63, the crossing of the Pelorus River, and Section 20 of Square 19 and Section 17, Block IX, Wakamarina Survey District; towards the north by Sections 17 and 15, Lot 2 of Section 14, and Sections 12 and 11, Block IX, Wakamarina Survey District, Sections 9, 8, 7, 6, and 4, Block X, Wakamarina Survey District, and a public road to the southernmost corner of Section 3, Block X, Wakamarina Survey District, by a right line to the north-western corner of Section 51, Block X aforesaid, and by Section 50, Block X aforesaid, to the Wakamarina River; towards the south-east by the said river; towards the south by Block I, Onamalutu Survey District, and Blocks IV, III, and II, Pine Valley Survey District; towards the west by Block IX, Heringa Survey District, and by the Nelson Land District; towards the north-west by the said land district to the south-western corner of Block IV, Tennyson Survey District; towards the north by a right line approximately 80 chains in length drawn due east to the western boundary of Section 4, Block IV, Tennyson Survey District; towards the east by the said Section 4, approximately 40 chains; and towards the north-west by that section to the Ronga River. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan 103/11, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Including Crown Land in the Hauraki Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to section 7 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs, with the consent of the Minister of Lands, hereby declares the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Hauraki Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of Crown land situate in the Waikato-Maniapoto Native Land Court District and known as Sections 5 and 6, Block IV, Tairua Survey District, containing 328 acres 0 roods 4 perches, more or less, and being the whole of the land comprised in Hauraki Pastoral Lease No. 687, and recorded in Certificate of Title, Vol. 710, folio 5.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Assembly of Wet Storage Batteries.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been received from A. E. Anderson, Auckland, for a license to engage in the industry of the assembly of wet storage batteries.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 15th November, 1939.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been received from the Christchurch Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Ltd., Christchurch, for a license to engage in the industry of the manufacture of colloidal sulphur.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 15th November, 1939.
