HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

STAFF.

Colonel R. Miles, D.S.O., M.C., Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer (Staff Duties), is appointed Quartermaster-General, and retains the appointment of Third Military Member of the Army Board. Dated 12th September, 1939.

Colonel O. H. Mead, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, is appointed Adjutant-General, and retains the appointment of Second Military Member of the Army Board. Dated 12th September, 1939.

THE WAIKATO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant R. R. Atkinson to be Captain. Dated 1st June, 1939.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant W. H. Thodey, from the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from the 7th July, 1933, and is posted to the 15th Heavy Battery. Dated 13th September, 1939.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants and are posted to the 13th Heavy Battery. Dated 9th September, 1939 :—
