BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION INCREASING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance of and in exercise of the powers vested in
it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926,
and all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Birken-
head Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:

"That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of
the half-yearly instalments of principal and interest and other
charges on the loan of eight thousand pounds (£8,000) known
as the Birkenhead Borough Council Sewerage Loan, 1938,
authorized to be raised by the Birkenhead Borough Council
for the purpose of completing the sewerage scheme for which
the Birkenhead Borough Council Sewerage Loan, 1936, of
twenty-eight thousand pounds (£28,000) was authorized, the
Birkenhead Borough Council hereby increases the special rate
of four-fifths of a penny (¼d.) in the pound made and levied
at a special meeting of the said Council held on Wednesday,
the 30th November, 1938, on the rateable value (on the
basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in
the special rating (sewerage) area of the said borough to one
and twenty-seven thousandths of a penny (1·027d.) in the
pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved
value) of all rateable property in the special rating (sewerage)
area of the said borough, and that such last-mentioned special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of the said Birkenhead Borough Council Sewerage Loan, 1938,
and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and
every year during the currency of the loan, being a period
of ten years or until the loan is fully paid off."

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at
an ordinary meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council
held on Wednesday, the 8th day of February, 1939.

CHANGE OF NAME OF COMPANY.

NOTICE is hereby given that d'Elsa Laird and Company,
Limited, has changed its name to G. d'Elsa and Com-
pany, Limited, and that the new name was this day entered

CHANGE OF NAME.

ALBERT ALWIN PEAPPLE PEARCE of Auckland, in
the Provincial District of Auckland, in the Dominion of
New Zealand, and formerly of Swindon, Wiltshire, England,
Joiner, heretofore called and known by the name of Albert
Alwin Peapple, hereby give notice that on the 20th day of
February, 1939, I assumed the surname of Pearce in addition
to the surname of Peapple as my last and principal surname
and that thereafter I shall use the name of Albert Alwin
Peapple Pearce in lieu of Albert Alwin Peapple, and further that
the assumption of such additional surname is evidenced by a
deed-poll dated the 20th day of February, 1939, duly attested
and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand
at Auckland, on the 21st day of February, 1939.
