Appointment of Customs Wharf and Examining-places at Auckland.

Wellington, 12th December, 1938.
I, WALTER NASH, Minister of Customs, in exercise of the powers vested in me for the purpose by the Customs Act, 1913, do by this warrant appoint the place named in the First Schedule hereto to be a wharf for the lading and unlading of goods within the Port of Auckland, and do likewise appoint at the said Port of Auckland the places named in the Second Schedule hereto to be places for the examination by the Customs of goods subject to the control of the Customs.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, North Canterbury Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

THE NORTH CANTERBURY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of that portion of the Amuri County within the board’s district, taken on the 6th day of December, 1938, on the proposal of the North Canterbury Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of thirty-eight thousand eight hundred and fifty pounds (£38,850) for the purpose of constructing new works for supply of electric power to Amuri County, and the electrical reticulation of those parts of the Amuri County included in the board’s district, including the purchase of general equipment, the purchase of land and/or buildings, the construction of buildings, and general expenses incidental to such supply:—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 181
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 9
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor, Pahiatua Borough Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

PAHIATUA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Municipal Theatre, Council Chambers, and Library Loan, 1938, £14,000.
In pursuance of the provisions of section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I have to advise that on the 15th day of December, 1938, a proposal was submitted by the Pahiatua Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Pahiatua to raise a special loan of £14,000 (fourteen thousand pounds) for the purpose of erecting a combined municipal theatre, council offices, meeting-rooms and library, providing seating accommodation in the theatre for 700 persons and furnishing the council offices and library, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows:—

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Footpaths, Bridges, and Borough Improvements Loan, 1938, £3,000.
In pursuance of the provisions of section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I have to advise that on the 15th day of December, 1938, a proposal was submitted by the Pahiatua Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Pahiatua to raise a special loan of £3,000 (three thousand pounds) for the purpose of constructing footpaths, kerbing and channelling, and concrete bridges within the borough and other capital works, including the harnessing of the springs on the Balfour Estate property, the installing of a subsidiary pumping-plant and such other works as are required to deliver the water from the above-mentioned springs into the borough water-main, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows:—

Mangahao Pumping and Borough Reticulation Loan, 1938, £19,000.
In pursuance of the provisions of section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I have to advise that on the 15th day of December, 1938, a proposal was submitted by the Pahiatua Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Pahiatua to raise a special loan of £19,000 (nineteen thousand pounds) for the purpose of pumping water from the Mangahao River and delivering same to the borough by the construction of an intake, pumping-plant, reservoir, supply-main, and the reticulation of the borough and all engineering and supervision costs pertaining thereto, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was:—
