Revolving the Declaration of Main Highways and declaring
Public Highways to be Main Highways.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 13th day
of December, 1938.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. M. J. SAVAGE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him
in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby declare that on and after the date of publication
of this Order in Council in the Gazette the portions of main
highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease
to be main highways, and doth further declare that the
roads described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main
highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the
Main Highways Act, 1922.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2.

Te Awamutu - Pirongia.—All that main highway in Waipa
County declared as the Te Awamutu - Pirongia Main High-
way described in Order in Council dated 7th September,
1925, and published in the Gazette on 10th September, 1925.

Te Awamutu - Pirongia.—All that main highway in the
borough of Te Awamutu declared as the Te Awamutu -
Pirongia Main Highway described in Order in Council dated
23rd February, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 24th
February, 1928.

Te Awamutu - Pirongia.—All that main highway in Waipa
County declared as the Te Awamutu - Pirongia Main High-
way described in Order in Council dated 27th March, 1933,
and published in the Gazette on 30th March, 1933.

Pirongia - Junction Kawhia Road.—All that main highway
in Otorohanga County declared as the Pirongia - Junction
Kawhia Road Main Highway described in Order in Council
dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th
April, 1928.

Waikumete - West Coast.—All that portion of the Wai-
kumete - West Coast Main Highway in the Waitemata County
commencing at the southern corner of Lot 8, Block V,
Titirangi Survey District, and proceeding thence generally
in a westerly direction and terminating at a point approxi-
mately 2 chains south-east of the eastern corner of Lot 2,
being a distance of 22 chains, more or less; as the same is
more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 100961,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Te Awamutu - Cambridge.—All that main highway in the
Leamington Town District and Cambridge Borough declared
as the Te Awamutu - Cambridge Main Highway described
in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in
the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 6.

Okahukura-Ohura.—All that main highway in Ohura
County declared as the Okahukura-Ohura Main Highway
described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and
published in the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 9.

Pohangina Valley - Apiti.—All that portion of the
Pohangina Valley - Apiti Main Highway in the Pohangina
County, commencing at the northern boundary of Section 1,
Block XIV, Pohangina Survey District, and proceeding
thence generally in an easterly and north-westerly direction
and terminating opposite the north-eastern corner of part
Section 29, Block X, Pohangina Survey District, being a
distance of 46 chains, more or less; as the same is more
particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 99915, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and
thereon coloured yellow.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 12.

Inangahua Junction - Waiho.—All that portion of main
highway in Grey County, commencing at the southern
boundary of the Borough of Greymouth at the Town Belt
South, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly
direction through Blocks XII and XVI, Greymouth Survey
District, and terminating at the western boundary of the
Greymouth-Hokitika Railway Reserve, being a distance of
46 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly
delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 99471, deposited in the office
of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured yellow.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 14.

Christchurch - Russley Road Junction via Burnside Road.—
All that main highway or portion of main highway known as
the Christchurch - Russley Road Junction via Burnside Road
described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and
published in the Gazette of the 5th April, 1928; also all that
main highway or portion of main highway known as the
Christchurch - Russley Road Junction via Burnside Road
described in Order in Council dated 14th January, 1929, and
published in the Gazette of 24th January, 1929.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 15.

Geraldine - Fairlie via Cattle Valley.—All that main highway
in the Geraldine and Mackenzie Counties described in Order
in Council dated 9th June, 1924, and published in the Gazette
of 12th June, 1924.

Also all that main highway or portion of main highway
described in Order in Council dated 23rd February, 1928,
as being in the Borough of Geraldine, and published in the
Gazette of 24th February, 1928.

Gapes Valley Road.—All that main highway in the Geraldine
County described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928,
and published in the Gazette of 5th April, 1928.

Gapes Valley - Pleasant Point.—All that main highway in
the Geraldine and Levels Counties described in Order in
Council dated 13th November, 1934, and published in the
Gazette of 15th November, 1934.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 16.

Timaru-Queenstown.—All that portion of main highway in
the Lake County, commencing opposite the mid-eastern
boundary of Section 7, Block IV, Lower Wanaka Survey
District and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly
direction and terminating at the north-eastern corner of
Section 1, Run 334, Block V, Cardrona Survey District,
being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains, more or less; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No.
101352, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 18.

Queenstown-Invercargill.—All that main highway in South-
land County, Winton Borough, and Lumsden Town District
declared as the Queenstown-Invercargill Main Highway
described in Order in Council dated 2nd March, 1938, and
published in the Gazette on 3rd March, 1938.

Gore - Te Anau.—All that portion of main highway in the
Lumsden Town District and Southland County, commencing
at its junction with the Queenstown-Invercargill Main High-
way in the Lumsden Town District and proceeding generally
in a north-westerly direction and terminating at its junction
with the Lumsden-Kingston Main Highway in Section 61,
Block I, Hokonui Survey District, being a distance of 1 mile
20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly
delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 101361, deposited in the
office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured green.

Invercargill Bluff.—All that main highway or portion of
main highway described as being in the borough of South
Invercargill, commencing at the north-western corner of Lot 1,
Block V, City of Invercargill, and proceeding in a south-
easterly direction via the Bluff Road and terminating at the
south-western corner of Lot 55, Block 44, Clifton Hundred,
being a distance of 1 mile 60 chains, more or less; as the same
is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 99472,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Well-
ington, and thereon coloured yellow.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1.

Ruawai Wharf Highway.—All that road or portion of road
in the Otamatea County, commencing at its junction with the
Dargaville-Maungaturoto Main Highway and proceeding
thence generally in a south-westerly direction and terminating
at the Ruawai Wharf, being a distance of 16 chains, more or
less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. No. 101250, deposited in the office of the Main
Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
