Approval of Rules relating to the Harbour of Okarito.

Wellington, 4th November, 1938.
P URSUANT to the provisions of section 3 of the Okarito Harbour Act, 1923, I do hereby approve of the rules relating to Okarito Harbour, made on the 25th day of October, 1938, by the Okarito Harbour Company, Limited, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Harbours Act, 1923, and by the said Act; and do hereby fix the 4th day of November, 1938, as the date of the coming into operation of the said rules.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Te Kuiti Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Te Kuiti taken on the 2nd day of November, 1938, on the proposal of the Te Kuiti Borough Council to borrow the sum of five thousand pounds (£5,000) for the purpose of streets improvements:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 186
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 42
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Approval of Testing Officers under the Motor-drivers' Regulations, 1931.
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve, until further notice, of the persons named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officers under the said regulations for the authority specified in column l of the said Schedule.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General Rates.
Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 7th November, 1938.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1938, to 31st March, 1939, as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 16th day of December, 1938, together with the special rates already made and levied.
The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Land Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
SCHEDULE.
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, twopence and ninety-two one-hundredths of a penny (2·92d.) in the pound.
Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B one penny and ninety-five one-hundredths of a penny (1·95d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0·97d.) in the pound.
Class D.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class D thirty-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·32d.) in the pound.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit.
I HEREBY give notice that applications have been received from—
(1) Miss E. M. Atkinson, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at the “Bungalow Fishing Lodge,” Lake Rotorua.
(2) Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., for permission to transfer one petrol pump from a position in Jetty Street to a site at new store premises at Logan Point, Dunedin.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 22nd November, 1938. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput of petrol sold and the nature of the business conducted by the person making the representations.

Taking of Fish for Sale.
I HEREBY give notice that an application has been received from T. A. Franks for a license to take fish for sale by means of a 88½ ft. 30 h.p. steam trawler. Proposed market, Gisborne.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 21st November, 1938.
