Notifying Land in Canterbury Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

Wellington, 16th September, 1938.
PURSUANT to the provisions of subsection (2) of section 48 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, notice is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being the land known as Clunes Settlement Extension, was acquired by the Crown on the 15th day of July, 1938, and became subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, as from that date.

SCHEDULE.
CANterbury Land District.—Clunes Settlement Extension.
All that area containing by admeasurement 78 acres 0 roods 29 perches, more or less, being part Rural Section 28775, situated in Block VII, Spaxton Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-east by part Rural Section 28288, 2325 links; towards the south-east by part Rural Section 28776 and Lot 2, D.P. 1229, 3626 links; towards the south-west and south-east by Section 7, Clunes Settlement, 1700-9 links and 1000 links respectively; towards the west by the said Section 7 and a public road, 2615 links; and towards the north-west by the said public road, 845 links; save and except a strip of land 1 chain wide intersecting the area in the north-east corner, such strip of land being occupied by the Methven-Rakaia Road and Railway and for which due allowance has been made in the above-mentioned area. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 32/317 “A,” deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Fixing the Rates of the Levy on all Wool produced in New Zealand.—(Notice No. Ag. 3608.)

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by section 10 (2) of the Wool Industry Promotion Act, 1936, I, William Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, hereby fix the rates following, that is to say,—
(a) For each bale, sixpence ;
(b) For each fadge, threepence ; and
(c) For each bag or sack, one penny ;
to be the rates of the levy to be charged on all wool produced in New Zealand which at any time during the season commencing on the 1st day of October, 1938, is exported from New Zealand or is delivered to a wool-manufacturer for use in New Zealand.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Taking of Fish for Sale.
I HEREBY give notice that applications have been received from—
(1) A. Scandrett, for a license to take fish at Westport by means of a 65 ft. 15 n.h.p. steam trawler, formerly operated by S. G. Veale, Greymouth. Proposed market, Westport.
(2) K. D. Walters, for a license to take fish at Gisborne by means of a 26 ft. 10 h.p. launch using trawl nets. Proposed market, Gisborne.
(3) A. H. Harvey, for a license to take fish at Tasman Bay and Westhaven by means of a 42 ft. 30 h.p. launch using trawl nets.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 4th October, 1938.

Retail Sale of Motor-spirit.
I HEREBY give notice that applications have been received from—
(1) Todd Motors, Ltd., for permission to move one petrol pump from the company’s former premises in Ilalsry Street to a position in front of the company’s new premises in Bond Street, Dunedin.
(2) National Mortgage and Agency Company of N.Z., Ltd., for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from one petrol pump proposed to be moved from the company’s premises in Hayes Street to a new position at the rear of the company’s premises in Stafford Street, Timaru.
(3) L. J. Wood, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a proposed new garage in the Main Road, Rangitata.
(4) Messrs. J. H. and R. V. Adam, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a proposed new service station at the corner of Manawaroa Street and Fitzherbert Avenue, Palmerston North.
(5) J. Rudge, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a proposed new garage and service station in the Main Road, Macarthur.
(6) F. H. Smallbone, for permission to move seven petrol pumps to a new corner site approximately one hundred yards north of the existing site in East Street, Ashburton.
(7) A. J. Goodall, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a proposed new service station at the corner of Bowler Avenue and Elgin Road, Mornington, Dunedin.
(8) J. T. Walsh, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from one petrol pump proposed to be installed at the applicant’s premises on the new Beach Road, Ahitapu.
(9) Mrs. A. V. Smith, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from one pump proposed to be installed at the applicant’s tea-rooms at Te Wairoa, Rotorua.
(10) L. F. Stroobant, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from two petrol pumps already installed at a garage in the Main Road, Clevedon.
(11) Swinard Brothers, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from two petrol pumps proposed to be installed outside the applicants’ premises in Ribble Street, Oamaru.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 4th October, 1938. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput of petrol sold and the nature of the business conducted by the person making the representations.

DECLARATION OF ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE FIREBLIGHT COMMITTEE OF THE MARLBOROUGH COMMERCIAL FRUIT-GROWING DISTRICT.
I, THOMAS McALISTER DRAIN, Returning Officer for the purpose of the Fireblight Committee Elections under the Fireblight Committee Regulations, 1928, do hereby declare that the following candidates have been duly nominated for the election of members of the Fireblight Committee of the Marlborough Commercial Fruitgrowing District, nominations for which closed at Wellington at noon on the 23rd day of August, 1938:—

McKerral, Edward,

Symott, Raymond Peter.
