On the 29th a tropical cyclone developed in the New Hebrides region, and, moving due south past Norfolk Island, was causing very disturbed weather in the North Tasman Sea at the end of the month. Strong north-easterly winds extended as far as North Auckland, and rain had commenced to fall in the north-west half of the North Island.
