Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’
Regulations, 1931.

IN terms of regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations,
1931, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve,
until further notice, of the person named in column 2 of the
Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said
Regulations for the authority specified in column 1 of the
said Schedule.

Date of Election by Fire Insurance Companies to fill Extra-
ordinary Vacancies on the Ohakune, Taihape, and Wanganui
Fire Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the
rules made thereunder, the Minister charged with the
administration of the said Act, doth hereby appoint Friday,
the 24th day of June, 1938, to be the date for holding the
election of one member of each of the Ohakune, Taihape, and
Wanganui Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies
concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary
vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. N. C. Barstow
from each of the said Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules
made thereunder, the Minister charged with the
administration of the said Act, doth hereby appoint Tuesday,
the 14th day of June, 1938, to be the date for holding the
election of one member of the Timaru Fire Board by the
fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held
to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation
of Mr. C. S. Young.

Poukawa Swamp Drainage Area.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

Wellington, 26th May, 1938.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and
the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments,
the ratepayers within the rating area constituted by the
last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent.
additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31st
March, 1938, unpaid on the 15th June, 1938.
Rates should be paid to the Collector of Drainage Rates,
Lands and Survey Department, Box 160, Napier.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it
is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land
shown upon the plan of Town of Koutu Extension No. 10,
affecting Waiwherowhero No. 2 and parts Nos. 1 and 3,
Block IV, Horohoro Survey District, is intended to be used
wholly for residential purposes, that the proposed road shown
thereon as Waiwhero Road should be of the width of 66 ft. :
Now, therefore, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands, do
hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by
section 17, subsection (1) of the Land Act, 1924, and of every
other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off
of Waiwhero Road of a width of not less than 40 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to
erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance
than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.
Given under my hand, this 23rd day of May, 1938.

Remarks: Further notice will be given when the normal
characteristics are restored.
