RESOLUTION.
THE following Regulations were laid before the members
of the Cambridge Trotting Club at a meeting held on
the 3rd of May, 1938, at Cambridge, with a recommendation
by the Chairman of such Club, Mr. Richard Hannon,
that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval
by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the
Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. Richard Hannon, the Chairman of such club, and
the meeting moved, and Mr. Richard Newcombe seconded,
and it was resolved that such Regulations should be adopted,
and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign
the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the Regulations referred to:
CAMBRIDGE TROTTING CLUB.
REGULATIONS.
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained
in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other
powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the
Cambridge Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning
of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said Club”),
doeth hereby make the following regulations controlling the
admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated
in the district of Waikato and known as the Claudelands
Racecourse while the said racecourse is used or occupied by
the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of
    the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.
  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing
    club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed
    to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act,
  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
    from the racecourse above described while the same is used
    or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:
    (a) Bookmakers.
    (b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-
    makers’ agents.
    (c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any
    racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New
    Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or else-
    where if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference,
    or the New Zealand Trotting Association.
    (d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually con-
    sort with thieves or persons who have no lawful
    visible means of support.
    (e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-
    breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or
    possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences,
    receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any
    offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act,
    1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues,
    and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted
    under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons
    convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.
    Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed
    by the New Zealand Trotting Conference, upon being satisfied
    by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person
    who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope
    of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof,
    may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any
    time revoke any such exemption without notice to such
    person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
    The foregoing regulations of the Cambridge Trotting Club
    were made and passed by such club on the 3rd day of May,
    1938, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

    The foregoing regulations of the Cambridge Trotting Club,
    are hereby approved this 13th day of May, 1938.

    CHANGE OF NAME.
    I, the undersigned, NOEL CAMERON, formerly known
    as LEON MCDONALD, of the City of Wellington, in the
    Dominion of New Zealand, Motor Engineer, do hereby give
    public notice that by a deed-poll dated the 30th day of March,
    1938, duly executed and attested and enrolled at the office
    of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Wellington on the
    12th day of April, 1938, I have assumed and adopted my
    said christian name of “Noel” to be my christian name in
    lieu of my previous christian name of “Leon,” and my said
    surname of “Cameron” to be my surname in lieu of my
    previous surname of “McDonald,” and I shall at all times
    henceforth in all actions and proceedings, dealings, and transactions
    and upon all occasions use the christian name “Noel”
    and the surname “Cameron” in lieu of the christian name
    “Leon” and the surname “McDonald” respectively.
    Dated this 12th day of April, 1938.

    BOROUGH OF MATAMATA.
    DECLARATION OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ADOPT SYSTEM OF
    RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE.
    PURSUANT to section 42 of the Rating Act, 1925, I
    hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of
    the Borough of Matamata taken on the 11th day of May,
    1938, on the proposal that the system of rating in the said
    borough be on the unimproved value:
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 114
    The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 198
    I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

    RECREATIONS LIMITED.
    IN LIQUIDATION.
    In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the
    matter of RECREATIONS LIMITED (in Liquidation).
    NOTICE is hereby given that at a meeting of creditors
    dated Friday, 13th May, 1938, and held pursuant to
    section 234 of the Companies Act, 1933, the undersigned
    was appointed liquidator for the purpose of such winding up.

    WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
    RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
    IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it
    in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926,
    and all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the
    Waipa County Council hereby resolves as follows:
    "That for the purpose of providing for the payment of
    interest, principal, and other charges on a loan of eight
    hundred and ninety pounds (£890) authorized to be raised
    by the Waipa County Council pursuant to the provisions
    of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, for the purpose
    of paying the balance of its proportion of the cost of constructing
    the Fairfield Bridge (together with the approaches
    thereto) over the Waikato River near Hamilton, the Waipa
    County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
    seven one-thousandths of a penny (7/1000d.) in the pound
    on the rateable value (on basis of the unimproved value) of
    all rateable property in the County of Waipa, and that such
    special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the
    currency of such loan and shall be payable on the 1st day of
    July in each and every year during the currency of such
    loan, being a period of twenty (20) years or until the loan
    is fully paid off."
    We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and a
    correct extract from the minutes of proceedings of the Waipa
    County Council at a meeting held on the 27th day of April,
