Alterations to the Scale of Charges upon the New Zealand Government
Railways.

I N pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the
Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of
all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Daniel Giles Sullivan,
Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the
General Scale of Charges made on the 4th day of November, 1931, and
published in the Gazette of the 13th day of November, 1931, and to
the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 17th day
of October, 1935, and published in the Gazette of the 18th day of
October, 1935, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways
open for traffic.

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES.

PASSSENGERS.

LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.

  1. Suburban Fares.

  2. INVERCARGILL DISTRICT.

By omitting, under the heading “From or to,” the word “Invercargill,” and
substituting in lieu thereof the words “Invercargill or Clyde Street.”

By adding the following new paragraph :—

19A. Suburban trip bearer tickets will also be issued for travel from and/or
to intermediate stations located between the points defined in paragraph 14
hereof. The charge for tickets so issued will be the charge applicable to the
shortest journey authorized in paragraph 14 within the limits of which the
intermediate journey is made.

LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.

  1. Checked Luggage.

Paragraph 1 : By omitting subclauses (h) and (k).

By omitting from subclauses (c), (d), (e), (f), and (g) the words “except
Wellington.”

By adding the following new subclause :—

(l) Luggage will not be checked between Wellington and Lyttelton.

By omitting paragraphs 2 and 16, and substituting in lieu thereof the following :—

  1. Subject to the provisions of the Act and of the regulations and of any
    by-laws under the Act, checked luggage will be held and conveyed at the risk
    of the Department or of the shipping company or of the road motor service, as
    the case may be.

  2. In respect of luggage checked for journeys between the North and
    South Islands, to and from Stewart Island, and to and from Dargaville, the
    Department acts only as agent for the shipping company or the road motor
    service, as the case may be, and the Department will not be responsible for any
    such luggage while the same is in the custody of any shipping company or of
    the road motor service.

  3. Local Rates and Regulations.

By omitting the words “Naumai” and “Raupo.”
