Appointment of a Licensing Authority under the Cinematograph Operators Licensing Regulations, 1938.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred on me by the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, as amended by section 18 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, and the Cinematograph Operators Licensing Regulations, 1938, I, William Edward Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, doth hereby appoint—

Roy Maltby Girling Butcher, Esquire, Chief Inspector under the Explosive and Dangerous Goods Amendment Act, 1920, as Chairman ;
Robertson McGregor Stewart, Esquire, representing the Film Exchanges Association of New Zealand ;
George Gregory, Esquire, representing the New Zealand Federated Motion Picture Projectionists’ Industrial Association of Workers ;
Herbert Francis Lamb, Esquire, representing the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association ; and
Findlay Forbes Gilmore, Esquire, an electrical engineer having no financial interest in the film industry

to be members of a licensing authority for the purposes of the said regulations to be called the Cinematograph Film Operators’ Licensing Board.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Resignations of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and resignations of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

The appointment of Major-General J. E. Duigan, C.B., D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, as Chief of the General Staff, is extended to 31st March, 1939.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel R. A. H. Fulton, M.B., Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C., is extended to 14th March, 1939.

Lieutenant L. W. Thornton, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, having returned to New Zealand after undergoing a course of instruction in Australia, is appointed Assistant Artillery Instructor, Central Military District, Wellington. Dated 13th April, 1938.

Lieutenant H. E. Gilbert, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, having returned to New Zealand after undergoing a course of instruction in Australia, is appointed Assistant Artillery Instructor, Northern Military District, Auckland. Dated 12th April, 1938.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant T. W. Shanks is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 3. Dated 6th April, 1938.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant J. B. Andrews, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 8th April, 1938.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

John Eric Shirley Greenall to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted to the 3rd Cadet Battalion. Dated 13th April, 1938.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 3rd Field Ambulance, to be Captains :—

S. Hunter, M.B., F.R.C.S. Edin. Dated 11th May, 1937.

H. E. W. Robertson, M.B. Dated 10th October, 1937.

Lieutenant A. G. Couston, L.R.C.P. & S. Edin., L.R.F.P. & S. Glasg. ceases to be attached to the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry and is posted to the Northern Military District (unattached). Dated 30th March, 1938.
