Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds within the County of Cook.—(Notice No. Ag. 3511.)

THE following special order made by the Cook County Council on the 18th day of August, 1937, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.
Resolved that the Cook County Council proceed by Special Order, in pursuance of the powers vested in it by section 4 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, to declare that the plants set out herein shall be noxious weeds within the County of Cook.
Plants referred to :—
Barberry (Berberis vulgaris).
St. John's Wart (Hypericum perforatum or H. humifusum).

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—KAIPARA HARBOUR.
Alteration in Lights.
(1) Position : Sail Point. Lat., 36° 11′ S. ; long. 174° 03′ E. (approx.).
Alterations : The period has been altered from flashing every 5 seconds to flashing every 10 seconds, thus—flash 0·5 seconds, eclipse 9·5 seconds. A small red sector between 292° and 324° approximately has been introduced which is altered to suit changes in the channel.
(2) Position : Shelly Beach. Lat., 36° 31′ S. ; long. 174° 22′ E. (approx.).
Alterations : The period has been altered from flashing every 4 seconds to flashing every 10 seconds, thus—flash 0·5 seconds, eclipse 9·5 seconds. A small red sector between 082° and 123° approximately has been introduced which is altered to cut over corner buoy when its position is changed.
(3) Position : Helensville River. Lat., 36° 37′ S. ; long. 174° 24′ E. (approx.).
Alteration : The period of the light has been altered from flashing every 2 seconds to flashing every 4 seconds, thus—flash 0·5 seconds, eclipse 3·5 seconds.

AT the examination of candidates for registration as a surveyor held in September, 1937, under the Surveyors Registration Act, 1928, and conducted by the Federated Surveyors' Boards of Australia and New Zealand, ten candidates presented themselves in New Zealand. Two of these candidates succeeded in obtaining passes, as under :—
