P URSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned A. R. Wallis, Limited, a company duly incorporated having its registered office at Greymouth, and carrying on business as a sawmiller, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

SCHEDULE.
Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points ; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise : Commencing at a peg marked W on an unnamed tributary of Waipuna River about 20 chains easterly from applicant's mill-site running westerly 10 chains, thence south-westerly 5 chains, thence westerly 5 chains to applicants' sawmill, and traversing Sections 6 and 7, Block IV, Ahaura Survey District.
Length and intended course of race : 20 chains, westerly. Points of intake : One.
Estimated time and cost of construction : Already constructed (cost £25).
Mean depth and breadth : 2 ft. by 1 ft.
Number of heads to be diverted : Two.
Purpose for which water is to be used : Sawmilling purposes. Proposed term of license : Twenty-one years.

MONTEITH'S PHOENIX BREWERY, LIMITED.
IN LIQUIDATION.
NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of the shareholders of Monteith's Phoenix Brewery, Limited (in Liquidation), will be held at the company's registered office, Bridge Street, Reefton, on Monday, the 11th day of October, 1937, at 7.30 o'clock p.m.
Business :—
(1) To receive the liquidator's account showing the manner in which the winding up has been conducted and the assets of the company disposed of.
(2) To authorize the disposal of the books, papers, and documents of the company in such manner as the meeting shall decide.

(1) That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business and that it is advisable to wind up, and that the company be wound up voluntarily.
(2) That MR. JOHN SCOTT MOIR, Public Accountant, Levin, be and he is hereby appointed liquidator of the company.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company duly convened and held on the 17th day of September, 1937, the following special resolution was duly passed :—
“That this meeting of shareholders resolve as a special resolution that it has been proved to its satisfaction that the company cannot by reason of lack of funds continue its business, and that the company go into voluntary liquidation.”

OTOROHANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and the Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Otorohanga County Council proposes under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts to execute a certain public work—namely, the laying-off and establishment of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the schedule hereto is required to be taken :
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the said lands so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Clerk to the said Council, situate in Ballance Street, Otorohanga, and is open for inspection (without any fee), by all persons during ordinary office hours :
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objection to the execution of the public work or to the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing and send the same within forty days from the first publication of this notice—namely, the 22nd day of September, 1937—to the Clerk of the said County at the County Offices, Ballance Street, Otorohanga.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of land required to be taken for road : 1 rood 26 perches.
Being portion of block of land called Te Kuiti 2B 25c ; coloured blue.
Situate in Otorohanga County.
