SEPT. 23.] THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of improvement loading.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.-FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Waitaki County.-Otekaike Settlement.

SECTION 53A : Area, 208 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Capital value, £1,250; half-yearly rent, £31 5s.

Weighted with £699 for improvements, comprising wooden dwelling-four rooms, bathroom and scullery, hot and cold water-washhouse, shed, stable, wool-shed; water-supply consisting of windmill, tanks, and concrete troughs; boundary and internal fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £4, the balance (£695) may be left on mortgage to the State Advances Corporation. Term of mortgage, thirty years; interest, 4½ per cent., reducible to 4¼ per cent. for prompt payment, the gross quarterly payments being £10 15s. 5d. Besides the deposit as above on account of improvements, portion of insurance premium, and costs as follows, will also require to be paid :-

The property is situated about one mile and a half from Duntroon rail, School, and Post-office by good metalled road. The section is subdivided into eleven paddocks ; fences in fairly good order. The property comprises about 100 acres of flat land capable of growing root and cereal crops, balance of area being fairly steep of a light nature; watered by windmill, tanks, and concrete troughs.

Land in Southland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 22nd September, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 19th October, 1937.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 21st October, 1937, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Wallace County.-Waiau Survey District.

SECTIONS 41 and 121, Block I : Area, 383 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £335. Deposit on deferred payments, £20, half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £10 4s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 14s.

Weighted with £62 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising 100 chains of boundary-fencing.

These sections are situated on the Clifden-Blackmount Road, three-quarters of a mile from Motumote Telephone-office and Otahu School, eleven miles from Orawia Railway-station, and sixteen miles from Tuatapere Dairy Factory and Saleyards by good metalled road. Soil of light loam resting on gravel formation; well watered by rivers and streams. All terrace flat land rising from a few feet to fifty feet above the river-level. Approximately 50 acres on western side are stony, while 10 acres near lagoon are swampy and liable to flood, balance being good sharp loam with outcrops of shingle. Present pasture is mostly poor native grass, but soil responds well to top-dressing of lime, and should grow good grass and root crops. About 30 acres are growing manuka scrub, while tutu is plentiful in places.
