to be representatives of producers on the New Zealand Fruit-export Control Board established under the said Act.

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Petone, as from the 10th day of August, 1937.
Richard Alfred Pascoe,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Raglan, as from the 2nd day of September, 1937.

Summer Time.

IT is hereby notified for general information that, under the Summer Time Act, 1929, and the Summer Time Amendment Act, 1933, summer time commences at two o’clock New Zealand standard time in the morning of Sunday, the 26th instant, and ends at two o’clock New Zealand standard time in the morning of Sunday, 24th April, 1938.
For the purpose of giving effect to the Act the time will therefore be advanced thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. New Zealand standard time on Sunday, the 26th instant, and be put back thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. New Zealand standard time on Sunday, 24th April, 1938.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiterers’ Shops within the Borough of Te Awamutu.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Te Awamutu pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Patrick Charles Webb, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of October, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evenings of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour ; and (2) on the Friday immediately preceding Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, when any such day falls on a Sunday or a Monday, there shall be no fixed closing-hour.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Te Awamutu of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Fruiterer.
——
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Te Awamutu, has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a fruiterer—namely, fresh and preserved fruit (other than jam) and vegetables—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, Patrick Charles Webb, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of October, 1937, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is not prohibited ; and (2) on the Friday immediately preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, when such days fall on a Sunday or a Monday, the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the Borough of Cambridge for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Cambridge and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
