Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Te Aroha.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Te Aroha pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Acting Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 2nd day of August, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing at not later than the prescribed hour on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 11.30 p.m., with the following exceptions :—
(1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Friday shall be 11.30 p.m.
(2) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 11.30 p.m., and on the Saturday immediately following the closing-hour shall be 6 p.m.
(3) On the working-day immediately preceding Anniversary Day, Anzac Day, or the King’s Birthday, when any such day falls on a Saturday, the closing-hour shall be 11.30 p.m.
(4) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 11.30 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 7th June, 1934, fixing the closing-hours of (1) hairdressers and (2) tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Te Aroha is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice. The notice gazetted on the 26th July, 1934, prohibiting the sale within the Borough of Te Aroha of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Sluggish River Drainage District.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General under the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1913, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Sluggish River Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SLUGGISH RIVER DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded on the south by the Sluggish River Drainage District from the Oroua River to the south-western corner of Section 1s, Fairfield Settlement, Block IV, Te Kauwau Survey District; thence northerly along the road forming the western boundary of Sections 1s and 2s, Fairfield Settlement, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence south-easterly along the road forming the northern boundary of Section 2s aforesaid to the road forming the north-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 3s, Fairfield Settlement; thence north-easterly along the road forming the north-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 3s, Sections 4s, 5s, and 7s, and the north-eastern boundary of Section 6s, Fairfield Settlement, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence northerly generally along the road forming the western boundary of Section 7s and north-western boundary of Lot 1 of Section 8s, Section 299, Township of Carnarvon, Lots 2 and 1 of D.P. 10176, and Section 291, Township of Carnarvon, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence easterly and south-easterly along the road forming the northern and north-eastern boundaries of Section 291 and the north-eastern boundary of Section 346, Township of Carnarvon, the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of part Section 267, Township of Carnarvon, D.P. 29, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of part Section 346, Township of Carnarvon, and Lot 1 on D.P. 1417 to the Oroua River; thence down the Oroua River to the point of commencement.

Alteration of Date of August Meeting of Taranaki Land Board.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor-General has, pursuant to section 54 (a) of the Land Act, 1924, approved of the meeting of the Land Board of the Taranaki Land District fixed for 25th August, 1937, being held on 18th August, 1937.

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the Native land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Waiapu-Matakaoa Development Scheme.

ALL that area of Native land in the Tairawhiti Native Land Court District, situate in Blocks IX and X, East Cape Survey District, and known as Marangairoa 1A 8 Block, containing 344 acres 2 roods, more or less.
