Appointment of Honorary Child Welfare Officers under the
Child Welfare Act, 1925.

Peter Fraser, Minister of Education, do hereby appoint
the following persons as Honorary Child Welfare Officers

Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

Francis Joseph Shanks, Esquire, is appointed Acting Director
of Signals during the absence from New Zealand of the
Director of Signals, and is granted the temporary rank of
Lieutenant-Colonel while so employed. Dated 23rd
March, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. H. Will, M.B., New Zealand Medical
Corps, relinquishes command of the 1st Field Ambulance,
and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Northern
Command. Dated 13th March, 1937.

Major H. S. Kenrick, M.B., F.R.C.S. Edin., New Zealand
Medical Corps, is appointed to command the 1st Field
Ambulance. Dated 14th March, 1937.

QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED
RIFLES.

Captain E. F. Laws to be Major. Dated 14th March, 1937.

Lieutenant E. L. Honeyfield is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 8. Dated 30th March, 1937.

Darcy Arno Cole to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 31st August,
1936.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

2nd Lieutenant G. A. Nicholls, 2nd Medium Battery, to be
Lieutenant. Dated 23rd August, 1936.

Barry Atkinson Abbott to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted
to the 3rd Field Battery. Dated 30th August, 1936.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) H. H.
Craig, 3rd Artillery Brigade Group (Artillery Section, Christ-
church Boys’ High School Cadets), is confirmed.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be
Lieutenants :—

J. R. B. Marshall. Dated 1st November, 1936.
J. N. Thomson. Dated 1st November, 1936.
N. H. Svendsen. Dated 1st March, 1937.

Jack Pybus to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted
