Article 143: Cancel clause 3, and substitute:—

  1. After ninety-one days all pay is to cease (i.e., including marriage and dependant’s allowances and deferred pay, but excluding kit-upkeep allowance).

Article 233: Cancel, and substitute:—

  1. Kits.—Where not inconsistent with these regulations and other orders issued under the authority of the Naval Board, the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, and all other instructions issued by the Admiralty, regarding the issue, upkeep, and disposal of kits to ratings shall apply in the New Zealand Division.

  2. Kit-upkeep allowance shall be payable at the rates promulgated in Navy Orders under the conditions specified in King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, but shall not be credited for periods during which deferred pay is stopped under these regulations, except as follows:—

(a) During sentence of detention when uniform is required to be worn.

(NOTE.—Kit-upkeep allowance is not to be credited during sentences served in the Auckland civil prison.)

(b) When all pay is stopped on account of hospital stoppages (vide Article 143).

  1. In view of the provisions of Article 236, which authorizes the issue of a civilian suit to ratings who are dismissed from H.M. Service, no uniform clothing is to be retained by men whose kits are ordered to be sold (King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, Article 542).

  2. Plain-clothes gratuity (King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, Article 1602) is not payable in the New Zealand Division.

Article 235: Cancel, and substitute:—

  1. Clothing Gratuities.—Clothing gratuities shall be payable under the conditions specified in King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions at the rates promulgated in Navy Orders.

Article 236: Cancel, and substitute:—

  1. Issue of Civilian Suit.—When kits are sold under the provisions of King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, Article 542, a civilian suit, the cost of which shall not exceed £3 10s., shall be issued prior to discharge. (See Article 233, clause 3.)

  2. The cost of the civilian suit is to be charged against any credit standing to the rating’s account on discharge.

Appendix IV.

NON-SUBSTANTIVE RATINGS AND ALLOWANCES.

Insert new Allowance 8A with effect from 1st April, 1936:—

Returns, &c., to be rendered in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.

The returns, &c., ordered to be rendered by ships and establishments of the Royal Navy by King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, Appendix XXII, are applicable to ships and establishments of the New Zealand Division, with the additions and modifications set forth in this Appendix.

  1. Returns, &c., ordered by King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions to be rendered or finally transmitted to the Admiralty or other authorities in the United Kingdom are to be sent to Navy Office, Wellington. Any necessary forwarding action will be taken at Navy Office.
