Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
Wellington, 4th February, 1937.
THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Rotorua Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF ROTORUA.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Rotorua taken on the 21st day of October, 1936, on the proposal of the Rotorua Borough Council to borrow the sum of £25,500 for the purpose of the erection of municipal buildings comprising Municipal Offices, Concert Hall, Council Chambers, Museum, Library, Municipal Theatre, and all necessary furnishings—
Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 592
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 373
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Kairanga County Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.
In the matter of section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the fourth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-five, under the authority of section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, and of section nine of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Amendment Act, 1934, the Kairanga County Council was duly authorized to borrow the sum of five hundred pounds (£500) being the balance which at the date of such Order in Council had not been borrowed of a loan of six thousand pounds (£6,000) known as “the New Fitzherbert Bridge Loan, 1933”:
And whereas it has not been found necessary to borrow any part of the said sum of £500 so authorized to be borrowed by the aforesaid Order in Council on the fourth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-five (hereinafter referred to as “the loan authority”):
And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Kairanga County Council in writing of his intention to cancel such loan authority:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon the Minister of Finance by section one hundred and eighteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, as amended by section forty-six of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), and of all other powers him in this behalf enabling, I, Michael Joseph Savage, acting for the Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Kairanga County Council to borrow under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to the said sum of five hundred pounds (£500) or any part thereof.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Waimate.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Waimate, has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m.:
And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of March, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed accordingly.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks VIII and XII, Rangaunu Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Awanui and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Being portion of Allotment 18, Waiake Parish.

Classification of Roads in Awatere County.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby revoke that Warrant classifying roads in the Awatere County, dated the 21st day of April, 1932, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 29 of the 28th day of April, 1932, at page 1153, and do hereby revoke also that Warrant classifying roads in the Awatere County dated the 7th day of January, 1936, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 8 of the 23rd day of January, 1936, at page 114, and do hereby approve of the Awatere County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Awatere County.
