Appointment of Members of Medical Council.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section three of the Medical Practitioners Amendment Act, 1924, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Hugh Douglas, M.B., C.M., Univ. Edin. 1896, and
William Newlands, M.B., Ch.B., Univ. Edin. 1902, F.R.C.S. Edin. 1904,

to be members of the Medical Council under the aforesaid Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of February, 1937.

Officer authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Agnes Maria Carson, being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of Postmaster at Bunnythorpe, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 6th day of February, 1937.

Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Borough of Opunake.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me in that behalf by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a borough under the said Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, by name the Borough of Opunake; and, further, I do hereby make the following appointments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll:—

  1. Clennell Nelson Thayer, Esquire, of Opunake, to be the Returning Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll and also to be the person authorized to prepare a voters’ roll of the persons entitled to vote at the said poll.

  2. The voters’ roll prepared and signed by the said Clennell Nelson Thayer shall be the voters’ roll to be used at the said poll.

  3. The said poll shall be taken on Friday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, and shall close at six o’clock in the afternoon of that day.

  4. Except as herein provided, the poll shall be taken as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, and the Returning Officer hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer appointed for the purpose of that Act.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED AS THE BOROUGH OF OPUNAKE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, bounded on the south-west generally by the sea from the mouth of the Waiaua Stream to the mouth of the Otahi Stream; thence up the left bank of the Otahi Stream to the south-western boundary of Section 35, Block IX, Opunake Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of said Section 35 to the right bank of the Waiaua Stream, and down the right bank of that stream to the sea, the point of commencement.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of February, 1937.

Revoking a Warrant apportioning the Cost of Maintaining, Repairing, Improving, or Reconstructing Portion of Great North Road, Blake Street, and Portion of New North Road, in the Avondale Road District.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Warrant dated the twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 37 of the twenty-seventh day of the same month, at page 858, apportioning the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing portion of Great North Road, Blake Street, and portion of New North Road in the Avondale Road District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of February, 1937.

Native Ceded Land available for Mining.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

PURSUANT to section ninety of the Mining Act, 1926, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the Native land ordered by the Native Land Court of New Zealand (Tokerau District) sitting at Otiria on the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-six, to be ceded to His Majesty for mining purposes, and described in the First Schedule hereto, shall be available for mining purposes under the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, on and after the twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, subject, however, to the condition set out in the Second Schedule hereto.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the North Auckland Land District, being part of Mohinui No. 9 Block, and situate in Block IV, Matatau Survey District, and Block I, Hukerenui Survey District: Area, 453 acres 0 roods 14·2 perches. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked N. 6/4/52, deposited in the office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon edged red.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

THAT until the freehold of the said land shall be acquired by His Majesty the King, all moneys falling due and payable to the Native owners of the said land under any license to be issued under the Mining Act, 1926, shall be paid to the Tokerau District Maori Land Board at Auckland on behalf of the said Native owners for distribution or otherwise as the Native Land Court by further order shall direct.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 4th day of February, 1937.

to be Honorary Inspectors under the said Act.
