ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of December, 1936.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice of
the Executive Council, doth hereby approve of the Proclamation set out
in the Schedule hereto with respect to the accession of His Majesty King George
the Sixth, and doth direct that the following formalities be observed in connection
therewith:
(1) That the Proclamation be publicly read in front of Parliament Buildings
at two-thirty p.m. on Monday, the fourteenth instant.
(2) That the public be requested to observe the day as a holiday as well for
the Proclamation of the Accession as for the birthday of His Majesty.
SCHEDULE.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Instrument of Abdication dated the tenth day of December
instant His former Majesty King Edward the Eighth did declare his irrevocable
determination to renounce the Throne for himself and his descendants; and the
said Instrument of Abdication has now taken effect, whereby the Imperial Crown
of Great Britain, Ireland and all other His former Majesty's Dominions is now
solely and rightfully come to the High and Mighty Prince Albert Frederick
Arthur George:
