And whereas the said Act provided that upon signification thereto of the Royal Assent, His Most Gracious Majesty King Edward the Eighth should cease to be King and that there should be a demise of the Crown, and that a member of the Royal Family next in succession to the Throne should succeed thereto and to all rights, privileges, and dignities thereunto belonging:

And whereas the Royal Assent has been signified to the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the Demise of the Crown Act, 1908, and for the purposes thereof, do by this Proclamation hereby notify that on the eleventh day of December of this present year His Most Gracious Majesty King Edward the Eighth ceased to be King, and that there was a demise of the Crown.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 12th day of December, 1936.
