Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and declaring
Public Highways to be Main Highways.

GALWAY, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 30th day of
November, 1936.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. M. J. SAVAGE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in
this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby declare that on and after the date of publication
of this Order in Council in the Gazette the portions of main
highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease
to be main highways, and doth further declare that the
roads described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main
highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the
Main Highways Act, 1922.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2.

Ngaruawahia - Whatawhata - Te Rore.—All those portions
of main highway in the Borough of Ngaruawahia and the
Waipa County declared as the Ngaruawahia-Whatawhata
Main Highway, commencing at the junction of the Great
South Road and Kepler Street in the Borough of Ngaruawahia, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction and terminating near the south-western corner of Lot 1, Allotment 163, Horotiu Parish, Block XI, Newcastle Survey District, being a distance of 5 miles 60 chains, more or less: as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94169, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured brown.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 5.

Taradale-Rissington.—All that main highway in the
Hawke’s Bay County and Taradale Town District declared
as the Taradale-Rissington Main Highway, and described in
Order in Council dated the 16th day of March, 1925, and
published in the Gazette on the 19th day of March, 1925, at
page 83.

Dannevirke-Waipukurau via Porangahau.—All that portion
of main highway in the Weber County declared as portion of
the Dannevirke-Waipukurau via Porangahau Main Highway,
commencing at the northern end of the Waipatiki Deviation
at a point opposite the north-eastern corner of Section 31R, Block II, Weber Survey District, and proceeding thence
generally in a southerly direction adjoining or passing through
or over the said Section 31R and Sections 27, 1, 26, 32R, 25, 2, 33R, 5, and 4, Block II, Weber Survey District, and terminating at the southern end of the Waipatiki Deviation opposite
a point on the north-western boundary of Section 5, Block II, Weber Survey District, being a distance of 1 mile 33 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 90414, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Gisborne-Wairoa via Hangaroa.—All that portion of main
highway in the Wairoa Borough declared as portion of the
Gisborne-Wairoa via Hangaroa Main Highway, commencing
at the intersection of Carroll Street and Mahia Avenue, and
proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction by way
of the said Carroll Street to its junction with River Parade, thence easterly by way of River Parade, and terminating at
the junction of River Parade and First Street, being a distance of 25 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 90946, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 14.

West Melton - Tai Tapu.—All that main highway in the
Paparua County declared as the West Melton - Tai Tapu
Main Highway, and described in Order in Council dated the
16th day of December, 1935, and published in the Gazette
on the 19th day of December, 1935, at page 3999.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 16.

Clarksville-Springvale.—All that portion of main highway
in the Vincent County declared as portion of the Clarksville-Springvale Main Highway commencing at its junction with
the deviation into Run 249A, Block II, Fraser Survey District, near Butchers Creek Reservoir, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of Run 249A and Section 12, Block II, Fraser Survey District, and terminating at its junction with the said deviation at a point in the said Section 12, Block II, Fraser Survey District, being a distance of 54 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94168, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17.

Dunedin-Invercargill.—All that portion of main highway in
the Borough of Balclutha declared as portion of the Dunedin-Invercargill Main Highway and described in Order in Council dated the 23rd day of February, 1928, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of February, 1928, at page 495.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 18.

Invercargill-Tuatapere.—All that portion of main highway
in the Southland County declared as portion of the Invercargill-Riverton Main Highway commencing at the northern boundary of the Borough of Invercargill and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction and terminating at its junction with the Lorne-Castlerock Main Highway at Lorne, being a distance of 3 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94170, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Lorne-Castlerock.—All that main highway in the Southland and Wallace Counties declared as the Lorne-Castlerock Main Highway, and described in Order in Council dated the 9th day of June, 1924, and published in the Gazette on the 12th day of June, 1924, at page 1413.

Also all that portion of main highway in the Borough of Winton declared as portion of the Lorne-Castlerock Main Highway, and described in Order in Council dated the 23rd day of February, 1928, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of February, 1928, at page 495.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2.

Horotiu - Whatawhata - Te Rore.—All that road or portion of road in the Waipa County commencing at its junction with the Great South Road Main Highway near the Horotiu Railway station opposite the northernmost corner of part Lot 111, Horotiu Parish, Block XII, Newcastle Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction by way of the Horotiu - Te Kowhai Road and terminating at its junction with the Ngaruawahia-Whatawhata Main Highway opposite the south-western corner of Lot 1, Allotment 163, Horotiu Parish, Block XI, Newcastle Survey District, being a distance of 3 miles 36 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94169, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 5.

Napier Park — Rissington.—All that road or portion of road in the Hawke’s Bay County commencing at its junction with the Napier-Hastings via Fernhill Main Highway near the southern end of the Ahuriri Lagoon near the Napier Park Racecourse, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction by way of the Napier-Puketitiri Road and terminating at Rissington opposite the north-western corner of Lot 1, D.P. 5350, Block XIII, Puketapu Survey District, being a distance of 13 miles 41 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94165, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Taradale Cemetery Highway.—All that street or portion of street in the Taradale Town District commencing at the junction of Puketapu Road with the Napier-Hastings via Fernhill Main Highway and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via the said Puketapu Road and terminating at the western boundary of the Taradale Town District, being a distance of 56 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 94165, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Dannevirke-Waipukurau via Porangahau.—All that road or portion of road in the Weber County known as the Waipatiki Deviation commencing at its junction with the Dannevirke-Waipukurau via Porangahau Main Highway near the north-eastern corner of Section 31R, Block II, Weber Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a
