The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1936.

LAND-TAX PAYABLE.

BY Order in Council made and issued by His Excellency the Governor-General in Council on the 9th day of October, 1936, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the duty by way of land-tax leviable under the said Act should be paid in one sum on Thursday, the 5th day of November, 1936, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington, C. I.; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly.

Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before 26th November, 1936. The liability to pay is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues; any overpayment will be adjusted by refund. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about 31st October, 1936. Demands must be presented with all payments, and taxpayers who expect a demand and do not receive one should notify me of the fact.

Exportation of Goods to China.—Marking of Packages.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 19th October, 1936.

IT is hereby notified for public information that advice has been received that the Government of China have promulgated a notification which provides that cargo imported into China from 12th October, 1936, must be marked in such a way that the Customs authorities may be able to identify each package by its marks and numbers alone.

Each package must bear an individual number of a consecutive series and, in addition, a mark of distinctive design or a set of not less than three letters or a combination of a distinctive design and letters.

Numbering of individual packages will not be insisted on (providing the marks are sufficiently distinctive) for tinned plates and other articles intended solely for the use of the importing firm and not intended for re-export to another open port.

Cargo which does not comply with the requirements of the notification will have to be re-marked under Customs supervision on payment of a fee of sixteen dollars for four hours or part thereof.

Exporters in New Zealand of goods to China may obtain a copy of the notification on application to the nearest Collector of Customs.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Rotorua, 19th October, 1936.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Rotorua, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 9th day of November, 1936.


SCHEDULE.

ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the milling-timber on those areas containing 282 acres, more or less, being parts Sections 7 and 10, Block VI, Rotorua Survey District (Provisional State Forest No. 32), situated about thirty miles by road from Rotorua.

The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 140,935, or in board feet 974,830, made up as follows:—

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-fourth of the amount tendered, together with £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid in three equal quarterly instalments, the first falling due three months after the date of the sale and the others at quarterly intervals thereafter.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.
