HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

N.Z. STAFF CORPS.

Lieutenant C. Shuttleworth to be Captain. Dated 1st October, 1936.

ROYAL N.Z. AIR FORCE.

The appointments of the undermentioned Flying Officers are confirmed. Dated 14th October, 1936 :—

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant E. J. Scotland ceases to be seconded to No. 4 (Army Co-operation) Squadron, N.Z. Air Force, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 23rd September, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant R. D. Sellers, 2nd Medium Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 23rd August, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant S. H. Dawe, 7th Field Battery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 23rd August, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant G. A. Nicholls ceases to be posted to the 19th Medium Battery and is posted to the 2nd Medium Battery. Dated 21st September, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant G. E. Cook ceases to be posted to the 5th Field Battery and is posted to the 8th Field Battery. Dated 23rd September, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant J. C. Fleming, 9th Field Battery, resigns his commission. Dated 1st October, 1936.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant H. C. S. Woolcott, 1st Field Company, to be Lieutenant. Dated 23rd August, 1936.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant B. H. Wakelin, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 7th October, 1936.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. L. Herdman, 1st Cadet Battalion, lapses. Dated 22nd September, 1936.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Lieutenant D. D. A. Bird, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Canterbury Regiment. Dated 23rd September, 1936.

THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.

Major W. Fraser, v.d., 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 4. Dated 22nd September, 1936.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenants :—

R. J. H. Seal. Dated 25th August, 1936.
R. S. Sinclair. Dated 26th August, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant B. H. Wakelin, from the Hauraki Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 20th August, 1934, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 7th October, 1936.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenants. Dated 1st September, 1936 :—

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Captain I. S. Gardiner, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 7. Dated 1st October, 1936.

Lieutenant A. G. Gillies, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 28th August, 1935.

Lieutenant D. D. A. Bird, from the North Auckland Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 29th November, 1925, and is posted to the 3rd Cadet Battalion. Dated 23rd September, 1936.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Lieutenant P. C. Blank, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 24th September, 1936.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Captain P. S. de Q. Cabot, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 11. Dated 28th September, 1936.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 48, dated 4th July, 1935, relative to the promotion of 2nd Lieutenant T. H. Hendra, 3rd Cadet Battalion, for “ Dated 6th June, 1935,” read “ Dated 14th March, 1934.”

THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on probation) and are posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion :—

Erl Richard Chesterman. Dated 7th September, 1936.
William Frederick Haworth. Dated 8th September, 1936.

N.Z. AIR FORCE.

Pilot Officer A. B. Greenaway, No. 2 (Bomber) Squadron, relinquishes his commission on appointment to a Short Service Commission in the Royal Air Force. Dated 17th December, 1935.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain G. P. Fitzgerald, M.B., ceases to be attached to the 12th Field Battery, N.Z.A., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Command. Dated 29th September, 1936.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend C. H. Olds, B.A., Chaplain, 3rd Class (Methodist), to be Chaplain, 2nd Class. Dated 8th August, 1936.

The Reverend I. L. Richards, Chaplain, 4th Class (Church of England), to be Chaplain, 3rd Class. Dated 23rd October, 1935.

The Reverend H. A. Sharp, Chaplain, 3rd Class (Methodist), is transferred from R.D. 5 to R.D. 3. Dated 27th September, 1936.

H. J. Parkinson, Chaplain, 4th Class (Salvation Army), is transferred from R.D. 8 to R.D. 10. Dated 23rd September, 1936.

George Harold Sawyer, to be Chaplain, 4th Class (Salvation Army), R.D. 12. Dated 5th October, 1936.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

Captain J. W. Andrews is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 7th October, 1936.

with headquarters at Ruatoria, Poverty Bay.
