Arbor Day, 1936.

Wellington, 2nd June, 1936.

IT is hereby notified that Wednesday, 5th August, 1936, is to be observed as Arbor Day, and in view of the national importance of tree-planting local bodies throughout New Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations on that date.

Where on account of local climatic conditions in any district the 5th August is deemed unsuitable, the local bodies affected are invited to observe some other suitable day in that month.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by section 3 of the Local Authorities Empowering (Aviation Encouragement) Act, 1929, I, Frederick Jones, Minister of Defence for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby recognize for the purposes of that Act the under-mentioned aviation authority :—
