Provided, however, that the occupier of property, and any one son or daughter of such occupier, may take or kill without license on such property during an open season imported or native game which may be taken in the acclimatization district in which such property is situated, or the occupier may in writing appoint one other person to shoot in his stead.

The fee for a license to take or kill both imported and native game is one pound (£1), except in the Auckland Acclimatization District, where the fee for a license to take or kill both imported and native game is twenty-five shillings (£1 5s.): Provided that in the Ashburton, Lakes District, North Canterbury, and Otago Acclimatization Districts, a separate license to take or kill native game only may be issued at a fee of ten shillings (10s.); and a similar fee is payable in the case of the Grey District, Southland, South Canterbury, Waitaki, and Waimate Districts wherein native game only may be taken or killed during the present season.

Section 15. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game or native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game or native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

Section 39. Except as otherwise expressly provided, nothing in any license or other authority under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, shall entitle the holder thereof to enter upon any private land without the consent of the owner or occupier thereof, or upon any State forest or provisional State forest.

STOCK AMENDMENT ACT, 1927, SECTION 4 (1).

Every person commits an offence and is liable to a fine of five pounds who, without the authority of the occupier, goes upon any private land with dog or gun and disturbs any stock depastured thereon.

Ashburton .. Californian quail, chukor, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, paradise duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Auckland .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Bay of Islands .. (Close season).
Buller .. Hares, grey duck, and pukeko.
East Coast .. Cock pheasants, Californian, Australian, and Virginian quail, grey duck, shoveller duck, and black swan.
Feilding and District Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Grey District .. Grey duck and black swan.
Hawera .. Cock pheasants, Californian quail, grey duck, and black swan.
Hawke’s Bay .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan.
Hobson .. Cock pheasants, Californian quail, grey duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Lakes District .. Californian quail, grey duck, black swan, and paradise duck.
Mangonui-Whangaroa (Close season).
Marlborough .. Californian quail, grey duck, spoonbill duck, paradise duck, and black swan.
Nelson .. Californian quail and black swan.
North Canterbury .. Californian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, black swan, pukeko, paradise duck, and Canadian geese.
Otago .. Californian quail, chukor, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, paradise duck, pukeko, and black swan.
Rotorua .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan.
South Canterbury .. Californian quail, grey duck, spoonbill duck, paradise duck, pukeko, and black swan.

Southland .. Grey duck, spoonbill duck, black swan, pukeko, and paradise duck.
Stratford .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, grey duck, black swan, and pukeko.
Taranaki .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, grey duck, and black swan.
Tauranga .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan.
Waiapu .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, and grey duck.
Waimarino .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, and grey duck.
Waimate .. Grey duck, spoonbill duck, black swan, pukeko, and paradise duck.
Waitaki .. Grey duck, spoonbill duck, black swan, pukeko, and paradise duck.
Wanganui .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan.
Wellington .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, hares, mallard duck, grey duck, shoveller duck, and black swan.
Westland .. Mallard duck, grey duck, black swan, and paradise duck.
Whangarei.. .. Cock pheasants, Californian and Australian quail, grey duck, pukeko, and black swan.

Particulars regarding the number and kinds of imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day and the period and area within which such game may be taken or killed are specified in the notification fixing the open season in each district.

Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

A short open season for paradise duck has been declared from 1st to 7th May in certain South Island acclimatization districts.

A short open season for pukeko from 1st to 14th May has been declared in certain acclimatization districts.

Native pigeon is absolutely protected.

A close season for all game is being observed this year in the Bay of Islands and Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatization Districts.

GODWITS.

Godwits may be taken or killed in the following districts during the period set opposite the name of each district respectively:—

Acclimatization District. Season.
Auckland .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Bay of Islands .. (Close season).
Buller .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Hobson .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Mangonui-Whangaroa (Close season).
Nelson .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
North Canterbury .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Otago .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Rotorua .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Southland .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Tauranga .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).
Whangarei.. .. 1st February to 31st March, 1937 (both days inclusive).

The license fee for taking or killing these birds only is ten shillings (10s.): Provided that a license to take or kill imported and native game also authorizes the holder to take or kill godwits in the districts where these birds may be taken or killed.

Knots are absolutely protected.
