Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on
Optional Tenure.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 15th January, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section
is open for selection on optional tenure under the
Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to
4 o'clock p.m., on Monday, 24th February, 1936.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 26th February, 1936, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any
applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any
other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waitomo County.—Tangitu Survey District.
(Native Land Settlement.)
Lot 5, Block VI : Area, 388 acres. Capital value, £705.
Deposit on deferred payments, £35 : Half-yearly instalment
on deferred payments, £21 15s. 6d. Renewable lease:
Half-yearly rent, £17 12s. 6d.
Weighted with £1,350 for improvements, comprising
dwelling, shed, cow-byrе, wool-shed, yards, approximately
250 chains fencing, approximately 260 acres felled, burned,
and grassed, and approximately 20 acres stumped and
ploughed. This sum may be paid in cash, or, after payment
of a deposit of £200, the sum of £850 may be secured by
way of first mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New
Zealand for a term of thirty years with interest at the rate
ruling as at date of selection, and the balance, £300, may be
secured by second private mortgage for a term of five years,
one year free of interest, and thereafter at 4½ per cent. (lower
rate), and with annual payments of £10 in reduction of principal.
A mixed-farming property situated on the Taumarunui – Te
Kuiti Road, eight miles and a half from Ongarue Post-office,
Railway-station, and Saleyards, and three miles and a half
from Mangatupoto School. Cream is picked up at the gate.
Access is by good metalled road from Ongarue.
This is an attractively situated property consisting mostly
of easy hills. When stumped approximately 100 acres are
ploughable. It contains about 300 acres in fair pasture,
the remainder being in worn-out pasture and second growth.
The section, which is subdivided into ten paddocks, is watered
by streams and springs, and the soil is loam resting on clay
formation. Ragwort is troublesome.
Special Condition.—The costs for the completion of the
mortgage to the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand must
be paid immediately an application is declared successful.

Land in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 14th January, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land
will be offered for lease by public auction at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 26th February, 1936, under the provisions of the
Hanmer Crown Leases Act, 1928.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—RURAL LAND.
Amuri County.—Lyndon Survey District.—Hanmer Plains Reserve.
PART Section 10, Blocks I and II : Area, 32 acres (approximately). Upset annual rent, £5.
Loaded with the sum of £39 16s. 3d. (payable in cash) for
improvements, comprising 45½ chains of boundary and
internal fencing.
This section is adjacent to the Hanmer Golf Links, about
three-quarters of a mile from Hanmer Township and Post-
office. Access is provided by Jacks Pass and unnamed
roads. The area is subject to survey, and approximately
10 acres is swampy and the balance of 22 acres is planted in
trees.
The section is in close proximity to the Hanmer Township
and to all the sport and health facilities that the township
offers. Hanmer is situated ninety-three miles from Christ-
church, and is reached by regular daily train and motor
services.
Term of Lease: Twenty-one years with right of renewal
for further terms with rentals based on fresh valuations
under the provisions of the Public Bodies' Leases Act, 1908.
Form of lease may be perused and full particulars obtained
at the office of the undersigned.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.
State Forest Service,
Auckland, 13th January, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the
purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will
close at the office of the State Forest Service, Auckland, at
4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, the 3rd day of February, 1936.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—NORTH AUCK-
LAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber on that area, containing approximately 585 acres, being part Tangihua Provisional State
Forest No. 122 and State Forest No. 23, Block I, Tangihua
Survey District, about seventeen miles from Whangarei and
twelve miles from Tauraroa Railway-station by partly metalled
road.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 119,245, or in
board feet 808,970, made up as follows :—

Upset price : £1,470.
Time for removal of timber : Two years.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-seventh of the purchase-money,
together with £1 Is. (license fee), must accompany the tender,
and the balance be paid by six equal quarterly instalments,
the first of which shall be paid three months after the
date of sale.
Terms and Conditions.

All instalment-payments shall be secured by "'on
demand" promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at
the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank
overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from
the date of maturity to the date of payment. -
The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in
accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22,
the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions. -
The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to
the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for
the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase
shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber
being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in
any advertisement having reference to the said timber. -
A return giving the number of logs cut of each species
and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee
on the last days of March, June, September, and December,
respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the
same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species.
These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection
of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Con-
servator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and
books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a
Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.
