License authorizing Bruce Bay Timbers, Limited, of Ruatapu, Westland, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity, and to erect and use certain Electric Lines in the County of Westland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 7th day of February, 1936.

THE HON. M. J. SAVAGE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to Bruce Bay Timbers, Limited, being a company duly incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, and having its registered office at Hokitika (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of Flagstaff Creek, in the Westland Land District, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding 28 cubic feet per second at any one time.


CONDITIONS.

  1. IMPLIED CONDITIONS.

THE conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

  1. LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.

This license is issued under the Water-power Regulations, 1934, and is subject thereto and to the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, and the Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1935, and to any regulations made or to be made in amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.

  1. UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.

Water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity, and shall be taken from the stream at the point indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 89094, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works.

  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.

The licensee is hereby authorized to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the position of the works being indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 89094 hereinbefore referred to:—

(a) Headworks consisting of an intake and water-race and pipe-lines leading to the water-wheel and powerhouse situated in Section 2452, Block II, Mount Douglas Survey District, hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 145 ft.

(b) A power-house with all necessary equipment, including water turbines, generators, transformers, lightning-arresters, switchboards, switches, exciters, and other appliances for generating electricity.

(c) (1) A transmission-line commencing at the powerhouse aforesaid and proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction generally through Section 2452, across the Main South Road and Flagstaff Creek, through Sections 735, 1578, and 781 (N.R.) to the eastern bank of the Mahitahi River, thence northerly along that bank to the northernmost corner of the said Section 781 (N.R.), thence north-westerly generally across the Mahitahi River to Section 777 (N.R.), thence across that section and Section 731 to Weldtown Reserve 420, thence northerly to the mill-site on Section 3686, Weldtown, all situate within Block II, Mount Douglas Survey District, and Blocks XIV, XIII, X, and IX, Bruce Bay Survey District, such line being more particularly delineated by means of a broken white line on the said plan:

(2) Branch lines giving supply (a) to the premises of J. Mulvaney on Section 1763; (b) to the premises of J. Condon on Section 735; and (c) to the premises of W. Condon on Section 2163, all being situated in Block XIV, Bruce Bay Survey District, and shown by means of dotted green lines on the said plan:

(3) Such additional lines as may be necessary to give supply to consumers within the boundaries of Weldtown, the lines at present erected being shown by means of dotted green lines on the said plan.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1956.

  1. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.

The system of supply shall be as described in paragraphs (a) and (f) of clause 21–01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935. The generating voltage shall be 400 volts, and the transmission voltage shall be approximately 6,600 volts between phases.

  1. RENTAL.

For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of the license, the licensee shall install a maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department, or, failing such installation, the rental shall be determined on the maximum capacity of the generating plant installed. The present plant is rated at 287 kv.a. at 0·8 power factor, and falls within the classes described in paragraph (a), subsection B, of clause 1 of Regulation 6 of the Water-power Regulations, 1934.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to Herbert Stanley Chadwick, of Raetihi (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of the Huikumu Stream situated in part Run 11, Huikumu Block, Block IX, Rarere Survey District, in the Land District of Wellington, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding 3⅔ cubic feet per second at any one time.


CONDITIONS.
