Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Boot Retailers', (2) Clothiers', (3) Fancy-goods Dealers', (4) Grocers', (5) Men's Hairdressers', and (6) Tobacconists' Shops within the Borough of Queenstown.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) boot-retailer, (2) clothier, (3) fancy-goods dealer, (4) grocer, (5) men's hairdresser, and (6) tobacconist within the Borough of Queenstown pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22 :

And whereas I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 23rd day of December, 1935, all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 11 p.m.

The notice gazetted on the 9th January, 1919, fixing the closing-hours of grocers', drapers', and boot and shoe dealers' shops in the Borough of Queenstown shall be and is hereby cancelled in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XIV, East Taieri Survey District, for the Purposes of a Quarry.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a quarry: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Mosgiel, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

Approximate area of the piece of land required to be taken : 4 acres 1 rood 19 perches.
Being portion of Section 5.

Situated in Block XIV, East Taieri Survey District.

In the Otago Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 90215, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Amending Regulations under the Dairy Industry Act, 1908, relating to the Inspection and Registration of Dairies.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of October, 1935.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Dairy Industry Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations in further amendment of the regulations relating to the inspection and registration of dairies in force under the said Act made on the twenty-fourth day of December, one thousand nine hundred, and published in the Gazette on the tenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and one, at page 66 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal regulations").

REGULATIONS.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette.

  2. The principal regulations are hereby amended by inserting, following Regulation 21 thereof, as inserted by amending Order in Council under the said Act made on the 21st day of December, 1925, and published in the Gazette on the 7th day of January, 1926, at page 19, the following additional regulation :

"21A. (1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the last preceding regulation, it shall be lawful for any dairy company within the meaning of the Dairy Industry Act, 1908, to sell cream obtained by the company from a dairy which has not been registered under these regulations subject to the following conditions :β€”

"(a) Such cream shall be eitherβ€”

"(i) Cream to which has been assigned the grade of 'Finest' pursuant to the provisions in that behalf of the Dairy-produce General Regulations, 1933; or

"(ii) Cream taken from milk to which has been assigned the grade of 'Finest' pursuant to the provisions in that behalf of the last-mentioned regulations.

"(b) Such cream shall be pasteurized so as to conform to the standard of pasteurized cream contained in the regulations made under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, on the 20th day of August, 1935, and published in the Gazette on the 22nd day of the same month, at page 2339.

"(c) Every package containing such cream shall be labelled in conformity with the regulations for the time being in force under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908.

"(d) Every sale of cream under this regulation shall be subject in all respects to the provisions of the Health Act, 1920, the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, and all regulations thereunder respectively for the time being in force.

"(e) Nothing contained herein shall authorize a failure to comply with clause 2 of the Dairy-produce General Regulations, 1933, so far as the provisions thereof may be applicable to the circumstances.

"(2) Subject to compliance with the Health Act, 1920, the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, and all regulations thereunder respectively for the time being in force, any person to whom any pasteurized cream is sold under the authority of this regulation may resell such cream for human consumption."
