Forms of tender may be procured at any post-office.
The attention of tenderers is directed to the terms and conditions of contract printed at the back of the tender forms. Paragraph 1 referring to transport licenses should be given particular notice.
The attention of tenderers is drawn to the provisions of the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, with which the successful tenderer will be required to comply. On those routes affected the acceptance of the tender for the mail-service and the fulfilment of the mail contract will be contingent on the successful tenderer’s obtaining a passenger or goods license for the route. A contractor’s subsequent failure to apply for a passenger or goods license for a route for which his tender to convey mails has been accepted will be considered as a breach of faith with the Department, and will render the contractor liable to the strict enforcement of the condition of the contract—viz., the conveyance of the mails, notwithstanding that he cannot, because of his failure, carry also passengers and/or goods.
The attention of tenderers is expressly directed to clause 6 of the terms and conditions of contracts, which gives the Postmaster-General the right to fix the hours of departure and arrival. If a tenderer is not prepared to observe the existing time-table he is required to attach to his tender a copy of the time-table proposed.
No tender will be considered unless made on the printed form.
The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. Tenders are to be enclosed in sealed envelopes, enfaced “Tenders for Mail-service,” and are to be addressed to the Chief Postmaster of the postal district to which the tender may specially refer.

Director-General.
