With the diameter of the iron and the inside width of the bow in the top half of the table the S.W.L. can be found in the lower half of the table in the corresponding column. Example: Bow shackle 1$\frac{1}{2}$ in. iron, 4$\frac{1}{2}$ in. inside width of bow. The load given in the lower half of the table in the column for width and that for diameter of iron is 8 tons 15 cwt. The safe-working load for the pin should be found as for a straight shackle, and the S.W.L. of the complete shackle is the lesser of the two loads so found.
