APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Westland Mining District, at Ahaura.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926 the undersigned John Henry Lester, of Blackball, Miner, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 4.30 p.m., 30/5/35.

Date and number of miner’s right: 23/11/34; No. 59316.

Address for service: Office of Guinness and Kitchingham, Solicitors, Guinness Street, Greymouth.

Dated at Greymouth, this 10th day of June, 1935.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Situate in Block II, Mawheranui Survey District, commencing at a point in the tributary of left-hand branch of Fords Creek, running thence south-easterly for 2½ miles and terminating at Hatters Terrace as shown on sketch plan filed herewith.

Length and intended course of race: 2½ miles, south-easterly.

Points of intake: Tributary left-hand branch Fords Creek.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Already constructed.

Mean depth and breadth: 3 ft. by 2 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Six heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining.

Proposed term of license: Five years.

MANGONUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by Part II of the Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, and the Mangonui County Loans Conversion Order, 1935, the Mangonui County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the new securities authorized to be issued by the Mangonui County Council under the above-mentioned Act and Order whether in conversion of existing securities issued in respect of the loans set out in the First Schedule to that Order or to provide for cash premium payments, and also the interest, sinking fund, and other charges (or, as the case may be, instalment of principal and interest) in respect of the unconverted securities issued in respect of such loans, the said Mangonui County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate upon the rateable value (on the basis of unimproved value) of all rateable property in the district. Such rate shall be made and levied on a differential basis for each of the several ridings of the district as follows:—

“(a) On all rateable property in the Ahipara, Awanui, Herekino, Houhora, Kaitaia, and Victoria Valley Ridings, a special rate of 3½d. in the pound:

“(b) On all rateable property in the Mangonui and Oruru Ridings, a special rate of 1½d. in the pound.

“Such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such securities and be payable yearly on the 26th day of October in each and every year until the last maturity date of such securities, being the 31st day of July, 1960, or until such securities are fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of the resolutions passed by the Mangonui County Council on the 21st day of June, 1935.
