Notice as to Statutory Closing-days under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22.

WHEREAS the Commissioners of the Borough of Thames and the County of Matakoao, and the Mayors or Chairmen, as the case may be, of the local authorities of the other respective separate districts mentioned in the First Column of the Schedule hereto, have duly notified me that the days decided on as the statutory closing-days in their respective districts, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, are the days set opposite their respective names in the Second Column of the said Schedule :

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, John Bitchener, Acting Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the statutory closing-days for shops in the said respective districts on and from the 11th day of March, 1935.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block IVA, Turanganui Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office at Gisborne, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 2 roods 33·8 perches.
Being portion of Lot 1 (D.P. 702), Pouawa No. 1 Block.
Situated in Block IVA, Turanganui Survey District (Gisborne R.D.). (S.O. 1460, brown.)

In the Gisborne Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 89028, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 20th day of February, 1935.

Land Surveyor’s Examination, March, 1935, Australia and New Zealand.

The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 15th February, 1935.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyor, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 25th March, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 11th March, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.

Candidates sitting under Rule VIII (1) will be accepted at this examination, and with candidates completing former sittings may sit in other centres where there is a Chief Surveyor’s office, but the latter must pay an extra fee of £1 1s. in addition to the ordinary fees unless the full fee of £5 5s. is payable, when no extra fee is chargeable.

Examination in all subjects, fee of £5 5s.

NOTE.—Rule VIII (1) allows students to sit for subjects 1 to 4 inclusive on completion of two years in Articles, and for such candidates a fee of £2 2s. is payable.
