Waihi Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General Rates.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 4th August, 1934.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Pukehina Subdivision of the Waihi Drainage Area constituted under the said Act the general rates described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land included in the Central Subdivision the general rate described in the Second Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the Kaikokopu Subdivision the general rates described in the Third Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1934, to 31st March, 1935.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 30th August, 1934, when the annually recurring special rates already made and levied will also be payable.

The valuation roll and the rate-book of the district will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 44, 1st Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street, Auckland, and copies of same may be inspected at the office of Mr. H. W. Earp, Clerk, Kaituna River Board, Te Puke, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
PUKEHINA SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, fivepence and one half-penny (5·5d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, twopence and forty-five one-hundredths of a penny (2·45d.) in the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
CENTRAL SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, threepence and eighty-three one-hundredths of a penny (3·83d.) in the pound.

THIRD SCHEDULE.
KAIKOKOPU SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, twopence and sixty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (2·67d.) in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, twopence and seven one-hundredths of a penny (2·07d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, one penny and eighteen one-hundredths of a penny (1·18d.) in the pound.

Notice as to Area in Wellington Land District declared to be a Fire District.

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 4th August, 1934.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and section 6 of the Forests Amendment Act, 1925, I hereby notify that on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—WELLINGTON FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

Korokoro Forest Fire District.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing approximately 2,500 acres, situated in Block VIII, Belmont Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by Section 25, Block VIII aforesaid, and Section 40, Normandale Settlement; towards the east by Raro Road; towards the south and again towards the east by Poto Road; again towards the east by Section 66, Normandale Settlement; again towards the south by Section 10, Block VIII aforesaid, to and across Maungaraki Road; towards the south-east by the said Maungaraki Road; again towards the south by Sections 35 and 34, Maungaraki Settlement; again towards the south-east by the said Section 34 and a public road; again towards the south by Sections 78 and 7, Block XIII, Belmont Survey District; and towards the north-west by Sections 8, 10, 13, 17, 18, and 19, Block VII, Belmont Survey District, and Sections 23 and 36, Block VIII aforesaid. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 92/5, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the organizations whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of any of the said organizations shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to any of the said organizations (either by their own or any fictitious or assumed names), or addressed to any of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
