ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 27th day of April, 1934.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section forty-four of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

His Worship the Mayor of Rangiora, ex officio,
The Chairman of the Rangiora County Council, ex officio,
John Mason,
Ernest Smedley Taylor,
Stanley Cousins Stokes,
Ronald Macdonald,
Charles Henry Bascand,
John Little, and
The Hon. David Buddo, M.L.C.,

to be the Rangiora and Waikuku Beach Domain Board, having control of the land described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby appoint Saturday, the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, at eight o’clock p.m., as the time when, and the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association Buildings, Rangiora, as the place where, the first meeting of the Board shall be held.

SCHEDULE.

RANGIORA AND WAIKUKU BEACH DOMAIN.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 627 acres, more or less, being Reserves 3224, 3710, 3718, and 4116, situated in Blocks VIII and XII, Rangiora Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by a line in continuation of the southern boundary of Rural Section 2931 to the road reserved along high-water mark; towards the east by the aforementioned road a distance of about 220 chains; towards the south by Reserve 807, and again towards the west generally by R.S. 34845, a road-line, R.S.s 11318, 11316, 13758, a road-line, the stream forming the eastern boundary of Reserve 709, and by the road forming the eastern boundary of Rural Sections 17713 and 17716; save and except two roads and a drain-reserve, each 1 chain wide, passing through the above-described area. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/232, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also Reserve 4226, Block VIII, Rangiora Survey District: Area, 5 acres.

Lake Wakatipu Electric-power Board.—First Election.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint the thirty-first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, as the day on which shall be held the first election of the representatives of the constituent districts in the Lake Wakatipu Electric-power District, being an electric-power district duly constituted by Proclamation dated the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 5, of the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four.

License authorizing Gilbert Charles Wells, of Waikawa Bay, Farmer, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 27th day of April, 1934.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. G. W. FORBES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in any-wise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Gilbert Charles Wells, Farmer (hereinafter with his successors and assigns referred to as “the licensee”), a license, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from a stream (hereinafter referred to as “the said stream”) situated on Section 2, Block VIII, French Pass Survey District, in the Nelson Land District, for the purposes hereinafter set forth, a stream of water (hereinafter referred to as “the said water”) not exceeding one-twentieth of a cubic foot per second at any one time; and also to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines hereinafter described on the conditions hereinafter set forth: Provided that nothing herein shall be held to guarantee that the said stream contains sufficient water to supply the volume of water hereinbefore referred to; and all rights hereby granted shall be subject to all existing rights heretofore granted under the Mining Acts or otherwise.

CONDITIONS.

  1. REGULATIONS.

This license is subject to the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1927, the Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1927, and to any regulations made or to be made in amendment or amplification thereof or in substitution therefor.

  1. PLANS.

The licensee shall forward for the approval of the Minister of Public Works (hereinafter referred to as “the Minister”)—
(a) Full detailed drawings and specifications of the diverting-weirs:
(b) Drawings showing how and in what manner the water is diverted:
(c) Contour-plans showing difference in level of water due to the construction of the headworks:
(d) Drawings giving full particulars of any tunnels, aqueducts, and pipe-lines used in conveying the water from the headworks to the power-station:
(e) Drawings showing the arrangement of the generating, switching, and transforming plant in the power-station.

  1. UTILIZATION OF THE WATER.

The said water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity.

  1. LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.

The said water shall be taken from the said stream situated in Section 2, Block VIII, French Pass Survey District, Sounds County, Nelson Land District, as indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 86862 (hereinafter referred to as “the said plan”), deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.

The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions herein contained, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, the position of the said works being indicated on the said plan:—
(a) Headworks consisting of dam and necessary intakes:
(b) Pipe-line leading from head-race to the power-house hereinafter referred to; also tail-race from the power-house to the said stream:
(c) Power-house, with all necessary equipment, including water turbines, generators, transformers, lightning-arresters, switchboards, switches, exciters, and other appliances for generating electricity:
(d) Transmission and other lines over the routes shown on the said plan:
(e) Such further transmission and other lines within the premises of the licensee as may from time to time be required. Any extensions or alterations of lines pursuant to this paragraph shall be made only after compliance with the provisions of clauses 21, 22, and 23 of the Electrical Supply Regulations.
