NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land
will be offered for sale by public auction for cash on
the property on Tuesday, 10th April, 1934, at 11 a.m., under
the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Matamata County.—Town of Puketura.
SECTIONS 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, Block II : Area, 1 acre 1 rood
31 perches. Upset price, £10.
The Town of Puketura is situated at the intersection of the
Cambridge-Taupo and Putaruru-Waotu Roads, approximately seven miles from Putaruru Township by formed road.
Sections, which are situated at the intersection of Hora Hora
Street and Cambridge Road, are level and undulating, covered
with fern and scrub ; light pumice soil.

Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section
is open for selection on renewable lease under the
Land for Settlements Act, 1925 ; and applications will be
received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington,
up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 16th April, 1934.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday,
18th April, 1934, at 10 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is
unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land
Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—FIRST-
CLASS LAND.
Castlepoint County.—Castlepoint Survey District.—Mataikona
Settlement.
SECTION 6, Blocks V, VI, and VIII : Area, 4,930 acres 2 roods
17·7 perches. Capital value, £14,165 ; half-yearly rent,
£354 2s. 6d.
Weighted with the sum of £800 for improvements, in favour
of the State Advances Superintendent ; this amount is
payable in cash or may be left on mortgage for a term not
exceeding thirty-six years with interest at 6¼ per cent. per
annum.
This section is portion of the well-known Mataikona Settlement, and is situated four miles from the Whakataki School
and forty-five miles from Masterton. Good road to Whakataki,
then only fair and inclined to be bad in winter. Approximately 2,252 acres in good pasture of English and native
grasses, balance is in manuka and taurim scrub with rough
feed in places. There is about 80 acres of gorse which requires
attention, otherwise clear of noxious weeds. The whole area
comprises easy to steep hilly country, all rideable. Subdivided
into five paddocks, with good permanent streams in each
paddock. Soil of medium quality resting on clay formation.
The section is healthy warm sheep country which holds the
pasture well, while the sea-frontage is excellent hogget country.
Improvements.—Improvements included in capital value of
property consist of clearing and grassing, 930 chains of fencing,
and large whare.
Improvements not included in capital value comprise new
wool-shed, men's whare, good sheep-dip and yards, which
must be paid for separately in cash or by executing a mortgage
for £800 to Superintendent, State Advances Department.

Rangitikei County.—Maungakaretu Survey District.
SUBDIVISION I, Blocks IV and VIII : Area, 1,491 acres
2 roods 20 perches. Capital value, £1,095 ; half-yearly rent,
£21 18s.
Weighted with improvements, £1,600, of which sum £415
is payable in cash, the balance being secured by mortgage for
a term of thirty-six years and a half, bearing interest at
6¼ per cent. per annum, reducible to 5¾ per cent. per annum
for prompt payment.
Situated on the Taihape-Waiouru Road, two miles from
Hihitahi Railway-station and Post-office, fourteen miles from
Taihape Dairy Factory and Saleyards by metalled roads.
Comprises fair pumice soil resting on clay, shingle, and papa
formation ; well watered by springs and streams. Altitude,
2,500 ft. to 3,000 ft. above sea-level. Approximately 300 acres
swamp land, 400 acres hilly, balance ploughable tussock
plains. No noxious weeds or rabbits. Suitable for grazing.
Improvements consist of good dwelling and outbuildings,
chaff-house, and shed, 673 chains of road, boundary, and
internal fencing, 140 acres cultivated, 10 acres burnt and
sown, and 114 acres top-dressed with superphosphate and
guano.

is open for selection on renewable lease under the
Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock
p.m. on Monday, 9th April, 1934.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday,
10th April, 1934, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant is unable
to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or
by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants.
The land is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land
Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under
the surface shall pertain to the lessees whose rights shall be
to the surface soil only.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Kowai Survey District.—Kowai County.
PART Lots 29 and 30 and Lots 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39,
and 40 of Reserve 425, and R.S. 37162, Blocks XI and XII :
Area, 26 acres 2 roods 16 perches. Capital value, £130 ;
half-yearly rental, £2 12s.
The area, which is situated half a mile from Springfield
Railway-station and Post-office, has access by a side road
from the Main West Coast Road. It comprises cold clay downs
with a fair amount of twitch and gorse and is suitable for
grazing only, or as a holding-paddock. The improvements
which are included in the rental value of the property comprise
approximately 32 chains of fencing, part being in bad order.

Crown Lands, Christchurch, from whom any further details
required may be obtained.
